Well... same issue come the day we enter Ishgard.
Can a new character just waltz in? Or do they need to be locked out to maintain the main storyline? What about 2.4 and the storyline surrounding Shiva?
Can you enter second Coil without beating first Coil?
Retcon.. retcon retcon! Not saying they can't retcon all those things, but those things will require a retcon.
Which would be messy.

How exactly does players playing Rog and Nin alter the story in anyway?Well... same issue come the day we enter Ishgard.

A new player waltzing through Ishgard once it is open has no bearing on the story, they will likely die from the high level mobs, but that is no different than them walking through Mor Dhona. Same thing with rog/nin running around, it changes the story none whatsoever.
Yes it does. A new player entering Ishgard... then doing the storyline and having Ishgard closed to you... being a Rogue or a Ninja while doing the Through the Maelstrom storyline... it's a matter of consistency. How exactly does players playing Rog and Nin alter the story in anyway?

It's just a messy bunch of retcons.
Square Enix does it pretty frequently. I mean... Dalamud falling on us was the biggest retcon plot device ever right? x)
nothing needs to be retconed for that though. if Ishgard turns into an open world zone then there is nothing game breaking about being in there. If it unlocks through the main story then obviously new players wont be able to enter. If its just quest tags in Ishgard, then again, nothing different then a new player running to Mor Dhona. Furthermore, being a Rogue or Ninja while doing Through the Maelstrom will not alter or change the story being told to you.Yes it does. It's hard to build a compelling narrative when you're getting chapters out of order is all I'm saying.nothing needs to be retconed for that though. if Ishgard turns into an open world zone then there is nothing game breaking about being in there. Example: Read the last few pages of Catcher in the Rye - then read the whole book.
It's not the same as starting on page one. You know things you shouldn't know until the end of the book and it changes, and potentially ruins, the story for you.
Except they aren't re-arranging the story is all I'm saying. That is like saying rog and nin should be banned from setting foot in any dungeon pre-2.4 as well as 1st and 2nd Coil and CT and ST because they weren't around in the main story during those patches...
And yet regardless of how many times you read that book the story won't changeIt's hard to build a compelling narrative when you're getting chapters out of order is all I'm saying.

The quest to unlock rogue could be a lol 15 or so quest since by then even if you start else where new players can get it. Kinda like new advanced jobs from ToAUin Xi. Only needed to be the min 30 to get them. Just needed access to that area.
How you read a book can entirely change the story... I mean really... x)Except they aren't re-arranging the story is all I'm saying. No matter how you choose to read Catcher in the Rye, the story will NEVER change. No matter who or what you play as, be it ROG or NIN, in FFXIV, the story leading up to where we are now (2.3) will NEVER change...I mean really x)
