I think most players actually don't like the journey at all, which is why so few players actually do Coil. They'd love to have the rewards, but can't clear the content so it's ignored by the majority of the playerbase (Especially since alternatives exist that give roughly the same gear).

Conversely, content that sort've serves as a middle ground (Mog EX, Ramuh EX) that is neither optimal in rewards nor easy to clear is pretty much ignored by both Coil and non-Coil focused players.
