It would likely take about 19-20 of each darkening fruit to go from White to Soot Black range.I've started to try getting from Snow White to Soot Black. Though it's possible I'll stop at a color I REALLY like. I've been using 1 type of fruit until the "feathers" message pops up once, and then waiting. This seems to be a much more stable way to get colors, even if it takes longer. So far:
Snow White + 1 pear (message) = Sylph Green
Sylph Green + 1 berry (message) = Celeste Green
Celeste Green + 1 apple (message) = ?
I'm guessing it'll be a light to mid grey. I'll see in 5 hours.
You just need 1 more plum proc to get snow white.
+ 4 x more apples. /waiting now
I dont see listed on the Excel: Storm Blue
1st feed: 30 X O'Ghomoro Berry + 10 x Mamook Pear
2nd feed: 10 x Xelphatol Apple
I am going toward Black or Midnight/Ink blue. I would love some tips on how to achieve that color from StormBlue.
Thanks!

It's more than a fantasy because it exists. It's more than a game...because it never ends.
How many times did you get a message regarding the chocobo growing new feathers? We've already had reason to believe that fruit that do not give the new feathers message don't result in anything at all.Stable condition was good, Chocobo was Honey Yellow before feeding, I fed it more lightening foods (some of each; pineapplles, valfruit, doman plums) and received a 6-hour countdown to absolutely nothing. It's a shame because aside from the red value, there should be plenty of room to move toward 255 green and 255 blue from that color.
I feel that this gameplay (namely the item text for the foods and the chat/stable countdown message) is misleading.
Kobold Brown + Doman Plums = Ink Blue -_-
No black for me, im stuck in this never ending blue-brown loop. ]:
Going to try to get out of it somehow..
Sorry. I'm pretty sure I remember someone already saying what they fed to get Rolanberry Red from Regal Purple, but I can't seem to find it. I'm thinking only one feather message from the apples? Can anyone clarify if that's what they did?
You're on the right track! As Syrehn said:
Now the goal is to keep your BLUE at or near the same value and to decrease your GREEN and RED by around 65ish points. Try something like this:
x2 O'Ghomoro Berry
x1 Mamook Pear
x1 Xelphatol Apple
For every group of the above you feed it, you will lower your GREENs and REDs evenly, while keeping your BLUEs around the value it is now (33).
You're going to want to feel him multiple, but to keep it in this pairing. For instance:
x10 O'Ghomoro Berry
x5 Mamook Pear
x5 Xelphatol Apple
I believe that would be a good start for the next plumage change. You're on the right path to Soot Black!

FYI, this combo worked for the 1st time. I got feather change message on every feed after the 3rd O'Ghomoro berry & every Xelphatol apple. The stable condition was good.
