Feeding 2 Valefruits did not get me a message about feathers... Here's the current info on what I have

Current Color: Deepwood Green -> R25 G36 B28

Desired Color: Soot Back -> R37 G35 B30

I just fed him 2 Valfruits (Lightens Green) but no feather changing message... any suggestions?

If anyone is keeping track:

I got Lilac Purple in 3 steps:

(From Desert Yellow default)
STEP 1: Fed 5 apples, got "new feather" message 4 times.
Result: from Desert Yellow to Millioncorn Yellow

STEP 2: Fed 10 berries, got "new feather" message 4 times
Result: from Millioncorn Yellow to Coral Pink

STEP 3: Fed 5 more berries, ONLY GOT "new feather" MESSAGE ONE (1) TIME!!
Result: from Coral Pink to Lilac Purple.

Please note that contrary to the existing color charts etc, I was able to achieve coral pink and the lilac purple using only apples and berries (no valfruit). Just thought people may want to know.

I would keep feeding your chocobo valfruit till you get a message, if that's a confirmed way to get from deepwood green to black. Sometimes it will take more than 1 or 2.

Has it been figured out how to darken the color?

I'm currently at Gloom Purple, but I was aiming for Currant Purple. Checking https://kuler.adobe.com, they seem to be practically on top of each other, Currant just being darker.

Should I alternate between the deepening fruits?

Cream Yellow (from Honey Yellow)
Cieldales Pineapple x9
Doman Plum x7
Valfruit x7

I don't know the exact quantities needed to reach Cream Yellow, but this is just what I fed Sunshine until he started changing feathers.

Gloom purple -> 1 mamook pear
Abyssal blue -> 1 mamook pear + 1 apple + 1 berries

So now that I am at this stage I request your help as the RGV values are pretty close from Abyssal blue to Currant Purple and I would like to avoid messing everything up.

Abyssal blue : R43 G39 B80
Currant Purple : R44 G38 B52

Since the colours are so close to eachother it makes it a tricky one;
I would try something like:
2 apples
2 pineapples
2 pears
1 Berry

Which should bring it to R44 G34 B54, or about that number I hope.

I suggest you to follow my steps for abyssal blue then try Alinah's suggestion. On my side I tried 2 apples, 2 pears to make it slow and got a splendid Shadow Blue that I will keep in the end
