Stable condition was good, Chocobo was Honey Yellow before feeding, I fed it more lightening foods (some of each; pineapplles, valfruit, doman plums) and received a 6-hour countdown to absolutely nothing. It's a shame because aside from the red value, there should be plenty of room to move toward 255 green and 255 blue from that color.
I feel that this gameplay (namely the item text for the foods and the chat/stable countdown message) is misleading.
How many times did you get a message regarding the chocobo growing new feathers? We've already had reason to believe that fruit that do not give the new feathers message don't result in anything at all.Stable condition was good, Chocobo was Honey Yellow before feeding, I fed it more lightening foods (some of each; pineapplles, valfruit, doman plums) and received a 6-hour countdown to absolutely nothing. The message I got was "Your chocobo's plumage will change in 6 hours"--which it didn't. This line of text is an outright lie. (And again, this was followed by a 6 hour countdown to nothing within the stable interface.)
I appreciate your desire to help me, but I don't need help. I just posted info so as to make people aware that this can be a complete waste of their time and resources, if they don't proceed carefully.

1st feed; starting point Desert Yellow
18 berries (feathers message after first 4 then on every feed afterward)
6 pears
Result: Seafog Blue 93,122,154
2nd Feed; starting point Seafog Blue
24 apples (new feathers message after 5 feeds)
11 pears
5 berries
Result: Mesa Red 118,51,4
3rd Feed; Starting point Mesa Red
16 berries (new feathers message on all berries)
6 pears
3 apples
Result: Midnight Blue 21,20,49
Total fed to date WITH new feathers:
35 berries
23 pears
27 apples
My goal from here is Soot Black 37,35,30 .. with Midnight Blue being SO close I am inclined to use one pear and one apple to nudge the red and green up while dropping the blue value. Any thoughts before i go through with it?
Hey,
I've been having a heck of a time trying to get black. Currently my chocobo is Othard Blue. Can anyone shed some light to point me in the right direction? Thanks!
You're right Midnight Blue is sooo close.
Current Color: Midnight Blue
20R, 21G, 49B
Desired Color: Soot Black
37R, 35G, 30B
I would probably use something like this combo:
x4 Pineapples
x1 Berries
This should *knockonwood* put your end values roughly around 35R, 36G, 34B (assuming +/- 5 average integer) which is almost bang on to Soot Black; RNG is still a factor depending on where you're at in the Midnight Blue values so mileage may vary.
Using the pear likely won't work, because you'd deepen green but reduce blue and red; you don't want to drop your red you need to raise it.

I tried this, from midnight blue fed 4 pineapple (3 with new feathers) and one berry. Turned out Kobold Brown.. will feed a plum since someone had success with that to get soot black i hope. You're right Midnight Blue is sooo close.
