    37R 35G 30B

Now this is where a bit of speculation comes in: I believe that each fruit will increase or decrease a value by a range of +/-3 to +/-6. To try to round out the RNG, I am going to use an average of +/-5 for each fruit. Going on that assumption, here is what I recommend (and please don't hate me if this isn't 100%):

    x2 Cieldalaes Pineapple
    x4 Xelphatol Apple
    x4 O'ghomoro Berry
    x4 Mamook Pear...
Issue here is, you don't know the current values of the chocobo. The shadows could only be rounded off to give Shadow Blue right now so it would all have to be a rough guesstimate right now. Still trying to figure mine out :/

You're right, I don't know the current values, which is why it gets harder to do minor changes in color variance when people are so close to their desired color.
I mainly go off the assumption that to reach certain colors you need to fall in a "color range" (I.e. 30-40R, 30-40G, 25-35B for Soot Black), and then (as you read above) I reduce what I believe are some RNG by offering a flat integer as an "average".

I try to preface every post saying that I am not 100% and this is only my assumptions based on correlating everyone's past data, as well as trials of my own.

pretty sure i fed five berries, and three of both the plums and valfruit. each of them gave me the feather change message.

I should create an official preface I can copy and paste stating, please don't hate me if this doesn't get you to your exact preferred color. Though, let me see if I can offer some guidance at the very least.

    Storm Blue
    30R 58G 107B

    Soot Black
    37R 35G 30B

Now there may be a more "efficient" way to get down to these values, but this is kind of a "off the top of my head" here. Try something like this:

    x1 O'ghomoro Berry
    x6 Mamook Pear
    x9 Xelphatol Apple

What I'm banking on, is this will get you into the ballpark of Soot Black. Then, when you're closer, we can make small mofifications from what color you land on to the eventually preferred color.

i understand that you are just guessing at best right now but any little information will help. do the numbers you are giving mean the amount of times that you see the growing new feathers message or is that the total amount of the fruit itself?

Ahh, sorry for the misunderstanding. The "times X" indicates the total amount of fruit of each type you should feed him in one go (all at once).
Each fruit you feed may or may not trigger its own "color has changed" message as it adjusts the values behind the scenes.
If you feed all the fruits I listed above, you should see at least one "changed colors" message, but even more than that is likely.

    FOR SCIENCE!

following that amount of fruit landed my bird on royal blue which is only two steps down from storm blue. maybe that will be some help for the calculations you are working on.
