    Question 18 of XVII Q&A Live Letter

    Q18: Currently, once you complete the Coil of Bahamut, you are unable to challenge it until the reset. If we are in a FC or LS with more than 8 players, it’s hard to sync the progression of everyone in the FC/LS. Is there anyway you could change the once-a-week system so that we could help out our fellow FC/LS members?

    A18: As for the once-a-week system that we currently have in place, we are indeed looking into the matter, but we haven’t been able to find an alternative system to take its place.
    You already have a good one, the try as many times as you want one, but only get to lot once a week.

    Or Once every other day, with a lot cap still a week if you lot on an item.

    Anything is better than the current restriction week lock out.

    It's better to have nothing to gain with and being a friend to get good gear, it's some motivation. Versus not being able to do the content at all cause no enough people I know can do it with me.

    Edit: Other alternative method.

    Free companies might help with a solution. Make it so if you are part of a free company you can enter as many times as you want as long as all 8 are from the same FC.

    Not everyone is gonna quit their FC for a carry especially since the items are not guaranteed and mixed with a loot lock out like crystal tower has.

    Selling is indeed the main issue that would crop up - Also there is no 'good system' in place, the only system in place is to keep the content relevant until 2.4, that way you don't "run out" of things to do.

    I can't wait, I need some more gil for my high end furniture and minion collection.

    This is a stupid concern the Dev team has. SCoB sales have been happening for at least a month or longer. There were two people who bought T9 kills back towards the end of June on Cactaur.

    With raid ilvl gear available from hunts, lockouts on coil serve 0% atm.

    I'm all for the Crystal Tower style method (do it anytime you want with whoever you want, but only get 1 drop per week), but the problem is people will end up selling runs.

    Honestly, I don't get why it's acceptable for players to sell runs to other players in the first place. There are so many things wrong with it:

    - promotes elitism amongst skilled players

    - less-skilled players get better gear, but still don't learn anything related to the fight or future, more difficult fights and/or how to play their job effectively

    - less-skilled players become encouraged to farm up large amounts of gil solely for clears, possibly resorting to RMT's

    - new content becomes trivialized, people become too focused on wanting to get it over with rather than enjoying the content for what it is, the storyline/lore involved, learning to overcome difficult encounters on their own, etc.

    At the same time though, I'm not sure how exactly SE could counteract this. I know a lot of players prefer to make their gil this way; I just don't agree with it.

    That will exist without sales. High performing players tend to be highly competitive regardless of gil to be made.

    Spamming hunts already get you up to ilvl109. I see plenty of poor performing players in close to ilvl110 in complete soldiery gear. Sales only provide the service of different types of gear of the same ilvl.

    Crafting Profession, Material melding for Novus, and vanity gear already encourage RMT quite a bit. Stopping sell runs will not even put a dent in RMT encouraging content.

    - new content becomes trivialized, people become too focused on wanting to get it over with rather than enjoying the content for what it is, the storyline/lore involved, learning to overcome difficult encounters on their own, etc.
    SE already trivializes it's own content. Most players skip over (or only clear once) most of the previous end game content (AK, WP, CM, HM primals) just to rush to the latest content.


    I think your perception of selling runs might be off a little. At least 40% of our business is good players who have cleared the fight before. They are paying for seven players to pass on the loot.

    lol bring on the gil my team and i already sold 2 weeks of 6-9 only problem i see is that the prices will tank for sales :P

    sure making gil is nice for YOU but those of us who cannot get clear due to others not being capable of doing the fights themselves but have the gear from buying clears, is the reason im so far behind. i cant even find a steady static anymore

    You should just pay, lots of happy clients on my server too

    It is nice being wealthy, maybe op should pay for carry too.
