Meanwhile, we have "childs" who "says":
"Man, look at this rare thing someone got for being here long before me, by working for it (partly) because they were told it will later be unobtainable. I WANT IT!"
Because going right to extremes is entertaining. Your comparison is just as poor as mine. This is digital content, it's not in short supply. Why do people use comparisons that aren't even close to the same thing?
It would be closer to comparing it to something like this: You want a Ford Model A. Only they stopped making that one. But for some reason, you feel entitled for them to also make you one since other people have one.
Still, not the same thing. But way closer comparison then yours.
As I said, I don't care either way, I don't even know what any of the 1.0 items look like for Halone's sake... But for people to have some ridiculously selfish feelings about a game is just sad. Do you see me or anyone else crying that the Lightning event and others came back for the 1 year anniversary? No, because I'm more than happy to see people get another shot and cool items. It's not about keeping fictional items from others as much as it is that these items were PROMISED to be exclusive. It would be extremely disrespectful to the people who participated in the events to go against their word.
Going to add that I don't even have most of the really cool 1.0 items, like White Ravens or the Horn of Dalamud, even though I played the game at launch with a Collector's Edition. I'm not here pouting on the forums that I didn't get them either. Do I wish I got them? Yeah, I didn't know any better at the time that I was missing out on these things but it would be inconsiderate of me to expect handouts for something I didn't put in the dedication to receive. 1.0 was a lot more hardcore than 2.0 is, the people who earned their treats deserve them.
Hell, I even missed out on getting my name in the credits even though I'm legacy status. Why? Because I forgot to check my e-mail and I missed the deadline for submissions. I'm not crying about that either.

How can you imply the people who want it to remain exclusive are being selfish, but the ones demanding to have the exclusive content (that they did not participate to get) aren't being selfish?Because going right to extremes is entertaining. Your comparison is just as poor as mine. This is digital content, it's not in short supply.

Just for sake of talking about unobtainable, for most of the items they did not say forever unobtainable (and the definition of unobtainable is not forever) therefore by there wording most of those items are available (if SE chose to make them such, ofc). And they referenced it going into 2.0, so we could hilariously argue words further and say the expansion that they call 3.0 is fair game.
There were only a few items they strictly said never again.

Yeah, both sides could be seen as selfish. But if I had an item that could be replicated an infinite amount of times, you can bet I'd share it, not keep it for myself like a weirdo.
It looks like this is a pointless argument anyhow. Someone back several pages stated that most of the items from 1.0 have been made available through events.

Did you experience the storyline of pre-2.0? Did you complete the fights? Did experience the atmosphere of playing in the shadow of Dalamud?
If you answered "no" to any of those questions then you don't get to have the items exclusive to those events and stories. Garlond Goggles, Dalamud Horn, Manderville Earrings, Deity Rings and so on... they're from events and quests you won't get to experience unless they were to somehow re-add the entirety of a game you never experienced.
Sorry if you feel that isn't fair.
PS: Those players (1.23 and earlier) also get an exclusive tattoo that marks them as a Dalamud Survivor - should they give you that too? Should they give you Legacy account status and the cheaper sub those players get as well? I know you mentioned the tattoo - so why not? It's a slippery slope argument or whatever right?

Disagree. A collection that cannot be completed is worthless.
Those need to stop being a thing in the first place. The tendency of companies to pull that stuff is starting to wear on me.You don't get pre-order bonuses without a pre-order. You don't get collector's edition bonuses without a collector's edition.
I do have those items for ARR, but by all means, release them to everyone in-game, as they should have been from the start.
And... Why do you need to be distinguished as such, exactly?
So, you wanna sell me your white Ravens? Because I can go buy a crapton of Model Ts if I please.
I do agree with this though.
So delete all those carry-over items and characters entirely as they're not part of this game and don't belong here. :-)
No one has asked to make them trade-able. They have asked that SE gives it to them.
And well, I couldn't give it to you even if I wanted. I don't have it. The only thing I have from 1.0 is the Tattoo and Egg helmet.
Why shouldn't 1.0 players be distinguished? They played and supported the original game. It's nice as a 1.0 player to be able to spot other 1.0 players every now and then.
Okay if you want to play this game how about they just delete all of the assets they re-used from the original XIV, XIII, XII, and XI entirely as they're not part of this game and don't belong here. :^)
Do you even realize how self-absorbed you sound saying that? I mean come on, do you honestly feel that the people who supported the game for multiple years, who put their faith in SE, should have had all of their progress wiped just so you didn't have to feel sorry for yourself for missing out on something that you chose not to participate in? :^)
