Should rare gear from 1.0 be available to everyone?

I think it should stay the way it is myself. Those who were there to get it, have it. It would kind of eliminate the very nature of it being "rare" if they re-introduced it to everyone.

Does everything in MMO's need parity these days? Not sure why people are so concerned with getting them. Nice thing of seeing some of these things on occasion is that they aren't plastered everywhere. When ya see someone with these things, it's an identifier really. Good for them for having liked/supported 1.xx.

I think 'event' gears, whether 1.0 gears or not should be 'limited time only!' things. Even them bringing back the 2.0 'special' FATES like (Lighting Returns, Shantotto etc), rubbed me the wrong way. Not because I feel like 'hahaha you can't have it!' but rather, because I think it in a small way 'honors' those who participated in the event when it was live, and who continued playing. It's totally OKAY for non-game-enhancing fluff gear/mounts to be 'limited'.

Except they said: These things will be unobtainable. Followed by a list of things. If any of the listed things become obtainable, the statement becomes a lie. Thats how lying works, saying one thing but doing another. Or is nothing a promise anymorw unless it has an "I promise" sticker?

Except that from what I can see, the way it's worded from what was quoted earlier in the thread: "The following items will become unobtainable", it sounds like they were only outlining things that would no longer be available, not promising anyone that they never would be again. They say basically the same thing about the current Moonfire event on the event's page, "* Please note that you will be unable to complete this quest after the seasonal event has ended." Especially with the fact that seasonal event items are mentioned in that list and yet we were able to get the previous yukatas and swimsuits, it was a seasonal event you can always expect them to be brought back, but once the event ends, yes, they're unobtainable. The person who quoted the list didn't include a link so I haven't seen the source, but it does have kind of a vague wording that doesn't sound much like a promise.

That being said, I do completely agree that anything from 1.0 that it wouldn't make any kind of logical sense from a story perspective to re-introduce it, shouldn't be brought back. And that 1.0 players do deserve to have things that 2.0 players can't get because they stuck with it through hard times and helped build the game we have now. So I do hope the majority of these things aren't brought back just to please newcomers.

Well unfortune to those that dont agree, probably everything will be availiable sometime. Cant wait to get my hands on those =), same with light event. Even had an alt to lv50 this week just for it.

Man, people sure do get indignant about their pixels. I'll say it again, as a 1.0 player, I have no problem with those items becoming available now.

Someone else having something you have shouldn't eradicate the "sentimental value" of your item. You know how you got it, it's still your personal achievement. Nothing is going to devalue that. I guess people are just too wrapped up in being perceived as "special" and in a video game of all things.

I'm obsessive when it comes to completion. It bugs me that I missed out on these things but I'm not here throwing a pity party on the forums hoping mommy and daddy will let me get my way. Why? Because I have respect for the people that did fulfill the requirements for receiving those items. It would be selfish of me to expect to have them when I did not earn the right to receive them.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it.. We just happen to have different philosophies on the matter, and I can respect that.

As I can respect yours. Believe me, I won't lie, deep down I would love to get my hands on the goodies I missed out on in 1.0 but I can also live without them.

No it shouldn't be available to everyone. You can't have items from a game you have never played.

Except it's not the same game. Like, at all. If you played 1.0 you would know this. They practically rebuilt the game from scratch. Only assets were reused. It's an entirely new engine and everything. This is not the same game as 1.0 was. Which is proven by the fact that the original 1.0 client is discontinued.
