we dont even have a solid number on what it costs, or if we do, i havent seen it yet. everything ive seen is player speculation based on FC housing.

Not really. I could have bought a house by myself. Also my FC is small. It's pretty much just a raid group. We got a medium house and only half of the raid group put any gil towards it. If you put effort into making gil it comes in quickly.
I agree that, just like with almost any new item, the first few days the price is inflated. It will most likely lower in price in less than a week. If you don't want to put effort towards making gil or getting the fruit the "hard" way then simply wait a few days. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

I paid 8-10k yesterday for my berries and today when I loged in they were at 40k....
They are already down to 32k but I'm not buying at this price lol
15k per fruit on Faerie, seems reasonable to me.

<3 these forums.
its a lot easier than you think, maybe you are just looking for the wrong things. you see all those tiny little FCs that dont seem to have a lot going on? those are generally a lot nicer and friendlier than the FC with 200+. lower your standards a bit and you might find nice people.
I am fully aware as i do not join FCs with to many people. But no, that does not make it any easier, maybe on your little server and from what you know, but the dark reality is that a lot of people are selfish and greedy. so what he suggested is still a rare case.
There's really nothing you can do to change this. You'll just have to wait for the prices to drop. I know that's what I'm going to do.

To me the main problem is because the fruit are set up as having to be grown from seeds, the ability to create them is severely gated and therefore the demand for them far surpasses what the possible supply is, at least for now.
Once private housing is released and and assuming that gardening is available through that and that the housing prices are reasonable so that people can actually afford them then this should help with the issue somewhat.
IMO they should make the fruits themselves available from a NPC vendor for a higher cost than the seeds and using a different currency than Gil (GC seals, allied seals, etc.). That way if you have the resources to do the gardening and want to put in that little extra time you can get them for cheaper or if not you can go and buy them for more, sort of like how gardening and buying produce works in the real world.

It kind of amazes me that SE didn't put some kind of instanced allotment or window box in with the FC House rooms.
