The system I was refering to was 5 years old, playing current games, at near PS4 level of graphical fidelity (Including this game, FFXIV). If I was to compare it to the PS3, it would destroy it in every direction, as most PS3 games ran at 720P and some at even lower, with a constant 20-30 FPS in most games (with a few exceptions).
The system in question ran most games at 45+ FPS and often at 60+ despite the lower end components (Phenom II 555 BE, an 80 USD processor and a medium end GPU that costed me around 115 USD at the time; GTX 460 SE; throw in some overclocking and voila).
Not to mention, if I really felt like it, I could upgrade that old thing and it'll easily surpass every console in the market in a heartbeat; specially with overclocking options.

Yes, the Dreamcast and XBOX could emulate; totally limited to a couple of systems and that was that.
Big woop. Still didn't emulate a lot of games properly nor decently.

You'd have to be totally blind to the absurd amount of advantages that you gain by shelling out a few extra hundred dollars for a PC instead of locking yourself to a console environment.
Consoles only advantage: Dirt cheap on the consumer level. (Note: Consumer level; as the PS3 lost money in hardware sales until late 2012. Look it up before you start talking nonsense again).
