Let's put it this way. The people who don't understand why maintenance is roughly at the same time will NEVER own a business. Well not for long anyways because the shareholders and board of directors would get rid of people like that so fast. Effect 10% of the player base or 90%?
I remember once maintenance was around 6pm EST. That probably impacted more people than when it is usually around 1AM - 3AM.
Every time I see these threads, all I get out of it is: whine, cry, whine whine, cry, and the inevitable it's not fair and my mommy told me life is supposed to be fair. Your mommy lied. Life isn't fair, and crying about it doesn't change that.
As has been said, SE is a business and will do maint when it impacts the smallest number of people. No, it doesn't make sense to change the times to possibly piss off a larger group of people. Even if you leave and quit the game, that's better, business-wise than risking 10x that many quitting the game.
And just to throw this out there, pretty much every maint they have is during my play time.
They let you know what it's for.
No matter what time they make the times, someone will get screwed over. It's life. You're paying for the game ALONG with the maintenance for it's upkeep.
They're not going to- and shouldn't - change it. If the maintenance makes you want to pull your hair out walk away from the keyboard.
Maintenance times are fine the way they are. There is enough of a forewarning so that players can plan around them.
Emergency maintenance happens at random, when the need arises for it so there isn't much SE can do to forewarn people.
Yes, some people are inconvenienced and tbh, it isn't fair to those people. However, it is what it is and those people have to deal with it and move on.
And of course, emergency maintenance happens -> Threads like these start popping up again.
Well, the EU players put up with it for 9 years with FFXI. I remember being constantly told by NA players on the forums that that's just how it was and we should deal with it. They were quite smug about it as I recall. And if course people who arent affected are coming here saying "deal with it"
Yes please change the maintrnances to different times. They always affect me and if theres a maintenance, that means I cant play that day.
How is it fair that I lose one day of gaming EVERY DAMN MAINTENANCE when I pay as much for my subscription as everyone else.
Yes it would affect more people if they changed it time to time, but it wouldnt affect THE SAME PEOPLE over and over.
I find myself with very little sympathy for your predicament. But hey, only 8 more years until you've had it as bad as us. Then we can talk.
Did you know? And if course people who arent affected are coming here saying "deal with it"

-That maintenance downtime is included in your subscription payment
-That the late night time slot has the lowest amount of players during the day
-You can unsubscribe if you don't like their service
-That these frequent maintenance affect my playtime too
-That SE is notorious for multiple emergency maintenance after a patch
Ok, let's change the time maintenance happens so we can go inconvenience a different group of players. Surely that is the ideal solution.
Please stop complaining about maintaining the servers, I live in hawaii so server maintenance happens at like 6-9 for me which is prime time here, but you know what I do? Unplug.
I would rather have servers that run well than ones that do not, I don't think FFX has maintenance maybe you should play that instead.
