Remote Play- How do you like it?

I about a month I will be upgrading my PS3 to a PS4. I already have a vita- so I want to know from those players that have used the remote play. How do you like it? What do you use it for and what will you NOT use it for? Pro's/ Con's. Anyone?

I'm on the fence. It's really choppy a lot even when I'm next to my ps4. Try not to be too talkative because it's hard to type with. I use it mainly for fishing so it's okay. Just wish my vita would vibrrate when I catch a fish.

I've done ST and roulettes with it as healer, tank and dps and it works as intended. I might try coil if it weren't for some glaring issues. Minor gripes include no "touch" interface (basically a glorified mouse pad) and stupidly hard to tap the back pad for L2, L3 and R2, R3. But all in all it works and that's impressive enough. Also assume you have good isp. I was able to play from my basement with my PS4 upstairs.

Well I work two nights (as in grave yard shift) at a hotel and was thinking of using it for crafting basically. At home, it mainly will be used for dailies. I was not sure how it would be in dungeons, but if it works basically the same then I will use it in dungeon when I'm home.

I only used it twice and really only gathered some stuff but I dont see how combat would be very difficult. Its a little awkward (and adds to the lag) so I wouldnt do any group dungeons/raids with remote play.

Wait you want to play from work? I dont think thats possible, last I checked both consoles have to be in the same network to work at all, and the Vita in the same room as the wifi router or it wont work well. This was back around PS4's release so I could be wrong. Maybe with this Playstation Now thing theyve improved network play dramatically.

this is incorrect I play over my works wifi just fine since the PS4 version came out.

There is a small amount of lag (about half a second) that can mess you up but I have not had these horrible experiences that some seem to. When connecting to your PS4 directly there is virtually no lag. There is about half a second lag when playing over wifi, I dont own a 3g model so I cant comment on that. When connecting using remote play I highly suggest you change some of your buttons around, namely swap the R2 with R1 and the L2 with L1 so that you dont have to use the back touchpad much I also suggest disabling R3. Change the settings so that the screen touch is only used as a push (disable its mouse function) and you essentially have it working rather easily. As far as quality I have done everything but coil at work over wifi. I mostly play healer and once you get used to the 0.5s lag its really not bad at all (again this is reduced connected directly to the PS4 to pretty much unnoticeable). Sometimes the screen will artifact but that almost always clears up in like 1~2 seconds.

I tried playing on the Vita and I don't like it for one main reason...I have my cross hotbars set up so that my default hotbar with out-of-combat skills when my weapon is sheather and then to change to another hotbar with my battle skills when I R3 to draw my weapon. On the Vita, there is no R3 obviously so the Vita automatically unsheathe my weapon and switch to the battle hotbar. I have to use the main menu to change my stance or select any commands from basically breaking the experience for me...so I don't bother. Might be okay for gathering or fishing since I only have one cross hotbar for those, but otherwise - useless with that set up.

Ok, when you say "wifi" do you mean the same network? Or are you connecting with your Vita, from work, over the internet (aka WAN), to your PS4 at home, and its playable? Just wondering, like I said I never bothered to try since pretty much every single hands-on video or demonstration I saw of remote play with Vita<>PS4 said it didnt work. Including this one http://kotaku.com/ps4-remote-play-pu...est-1464725207 which says:

Sony recommends that you keep your Vita and PS4 on the same WiFi network for optimal use, but just for kicks, I also tested with other Kotaku staffers to see if we could get this thing working with different WiFi networks. Could Patricia use her Vita from San Francisco to control my PS4 in NYC? Nope. Could I use my Vita from uptown Manhattan to control Evan's PS4 downtown? Nope. Other permutations were equally unsuccessful.
.... again, these are release tests. Im sure theyve since made some advancements to it since then but im still skeptical that itll work over the internet. Even my own tests at both mine and parents home showed it was unstable if you got too far from the router (again, coinciding with other videos like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miBEL9_Gy_s), much less over the web.
