In regards to Second Coil: Turn 1, it's because no one does it the way it was supposed to be intended. Savage mode forces you to do it the intended way, but you don't have to do such a thing in normal mode (because people are lazy?).
Path of least resistance is always taken.
Not in the slightest.
Go argue with the people who made Wrath of the Lich King then. They made awesome raiding content that wiped people repeatedly, forced them to strategize, but still managed to make a whole lot of people happy. The subscription numbers on WoW at that time do not lie.
Also, I don't think you noticed but... nothing being suggested here would damage your raiding in the least. The current coil would be preserved as heroic mode, there would still be a savage mode, and you get unique armor skins, easter egg bosses, and slightly higher ilvl than those that do the normal mode. So what's the point of arguing against a suggestion that gives you all the stuff you want and more?

I am 100% for this. WoTLK's set up is pretty legit and would work well in this game. Have the normal modes as they are now where a dedicated group can get it done in time and have potential to see the story out before the next set of turns, and something similar to Savage in terms of the Hard mode where the very hardcore will have something long term to deal with.
Can have it in the hard mode where say if it was here now, the normal mode drops ilvl110 gear, and the hard mode drops ilvl115 version of the same gear, but lets you dye it.
My other idea could be questionable, but I liked in WoW that there was a very rare chance a legendary weapon would drop. Could have the normal High Allagan weapon and hard mode gear drop from the last raid boss, and a rare chance that a Legendary weapon would drop and be ilvl120.
Maybe I did misunderstand what you're suggesting. But there should only be 2 modes? or 3? As far as I'm concerned Savage is an absolute waste of time (and not of the good kind). However there should be a gap in gear from the two modes, kind of what I gave an example for Second Coil, no? Help me out here, maybe my reading comprehension is poor.
Maybe in addition some lame vanity type rewards from Savage (or whatever the highest level of raid in WoW would be akin to).
I figured there was a misunderstanding here. The way the raiding worked in Wrath of the Lich King is that there were two modes: Normal and Heroic. Heroic tier gave slightly improved ilvl of gear over normal, and the gear had unique paint jobs/appearances that the normal modes lacked. At the same time, the challenges were tougher than in normal, and required a greater deal of time to overcome. They also sometimes had easter egg bosses that the normal modes didn't. (and thus some unique loot models)Maybe I did misunderstand what you're suggesting. But there should only be 2 modes? or 3? Normal mode's still gave gear appropriate to prepare players for the next tier of play, forced them to strategize to overcome obstacles and wipe pretty frequently. Just not quite as much as heroics did. That opens up the main story to those willing to give it there all, but may not be able to do the typical 4-6 hours for three nights a week raid schedule that heroics often require out of groups. It is very different than the current Crystal Tower, which is essentially a loot hand out.
The point is that it opens up the challenge of raiding to mainstream gamers, many of whom might have been hardcore gamers at some point, but simply find they don't have the time they used to. It worked out very well for World of Warcraft and no one has really done it since then (that I'm aware of).
I wasn't raiding in WoW when WotLK was current, but I know what you mean and I agree there should be an inbetween difficulty to what we have now as an option, I don't want it to just be a stepping stone again like what we have with primals though. Normal for story, then hard to progress to extreme. The problem with XIV's fights is that so many of them are dependant on everyone not a single person messing up, as well as latency which doesnt work so well for those not near the data centres. I haven't even beat T5 yet (admittedly I haven't tried for a while, got tired of it) because all it took was one person not moving when they were supposed to to mess the whole thing up even if I was doing everything perfect. I see that with other people as well, they're plenty capable of doing the content, but it just takes one person in their group, either a friend or a random DF matchup, to hold them back from winning.
I don't want steamrolled content, and I dont want to pay people who are capable just to let me into their group to get a win. Some things could be made easier, rather than ilvl reqs, things like an extra couple seconds on things that have to be done in x amount of time, more markers, etc. Although it's nice we have ways to gear up without doing coil, some of it takes so soul-crushingly long it's just a burnout, especially when so much is reliant on RNG (Im still only 4/12 atma after grinding fates since it came out)
You mean how the first coil is now? Wait until October and the second coil will be made easier for the casuals
Uh the current coil is 'normal mode' and savage is the hard mode. If you cant spend the time to learn the fight and beat the current content, wait until it is nerfed or find something else.
There is the i90 gear, looks similar, lower level and stats compared to the second coil..
As for WoW, it has already had enough influence in this game, if anything I would prefer they make it less like WoW and more like the other Final Fantasy games.
This isn't WoW, and it isn't Final Fantasy either. I wish all the wow fanbois would go back, take Yoshi with you and then perhaps the next producer can recreate an actual unique game.
I think Savage mode right now is a test the team is doing to see how players react to a Normal/Heroic type raid system. I think some interview he said during E3 was that they would take in feedback from players in regards to Savage mode and if it something that works, they would build more structure into it than just slapping it into the game. I hope come expansion time they go into this type of setup that WoTLK did. When I played that expansion, it just felt so right.
How exactly do you make a "Final Fantasy dungeon" in an MMO?As for WoW, it has already had enough influence in this game, if anything I would prefer they make it less like WoW and more like the other Final Fantasy games.
