If I'm on a job that can roll need, but my gear is better, I roll greed to give people a chance at it. The only exception is Hussar, Shikaree, Fistfighter, and Divine sets, since those dungeons drop so much crafting mats that I will take whatever advantage I can to finally get the actual gear.

That's more than fair, I do the same. And as much as it aggravated me to see ppl in ilvl 100 gear grab all the Darklight stuff for GC trade ins that others could use for alts, the way myth tomes flow in it's pretty obsolete now. Well I do like the Darklight healer and caster pants because with a certain dye they contribute to a couple of my naughty glamour sets but that's a whole 'nother story.

What I find extremely silly about this is that on the second piece of gear you rolled greed.. AND you were the only person that did. WTF on that one. They kicked you for greeding a piece of gear that not one single other member of the party lotted on? Or was that someone else?

Nope. You can need on anything that you're allowed to need on. It is sort of frowned upon to do it on items that you're not going to use. However in this case, no harm, no foul. You have a class you wish to use it on. Though if someone else could need it (like a dragoon) then its polite to pass it to them.

Now.. for the important and missed part about this situation. There are only FOUR options one can use to vote kick someone:

1. Harassment (rolling on items isn't considered this)
2. AFK (you weren't afk)
3. Cheating (you weren't cheating)
4. Offline (you weren't offline)

They have two options if they don't wish for loot to go like that:

1. Form their own party outside duty finder and set their own loot rules.
2. Vote Abandon the entire party. (This is the option you use to get end a party disagreement such as this)

So.. that means they broke the rules on dismissing you. Report them. They also cursed at you, so report them for that too. Thats two accounts of harassment, so they will probably get more than a warning. Maybe that will get their attention.

To those who Need for GC points, I'd like to remind them that there are multiple ways to earn GC points, while that instance duty is the only way for someone who needs that piece of armor to get it. You never know, you may be dealing with someone who has been farming the duty over and over waiting to get that piece. I think at the very least it would be nice to use Greed instead, least you give them a chance to compete with you, instead of Needing for something that... well... you don't effectively Need.

If they *need* that item, they should be farming the instance on the role they need it for. The only time I Greed everything is in a pre-formed party with my FC mates. Even then, when we're running new dungeons, we all want the stuff for our own class (potential glamours mostly) so we end up rolling Need.

Technically you shouldn't have needed on it anyways because it's DRG armor. It's pretty useless to you; SE just lets you Need on it anyways.

If you can press Need then you're allowed to do it.
I always need on stuff I need for glamour or if I can use it on another class. I never need if I intend to turn it in for seals though

If you need it, for any reason, then you should need on it. That is why they have need or greed in my opinion. I need for desynthesis and seals all the time. I am only doing runs nowadays for those reasons. If I fill a needed role so people can complete a duty they need, wtf should I greed on something I am doing the run for? Other people are there to level or get tomes and gear and complete the duty and they would usually NEED if the item was for their current job.

Some people look at me a little strange when I need against another smn for titan book, but that other smn just got his relic because I helped kill that titan anyways, so why should I not need it? You did the right thing needing for items you wanted to use. You also did the right thing reporting them. GMs are doing much better at policing DF these days (just saw a trio in a FC suspended for locking themselves out in ST and telling the alliance to do it without them if they could). The more people getting talked to for this crap, the less likely people are to think they can do it too.

It looks like the OP actually passed on the second piece of gear. The other person greeded it then kicked the OP anyway.
Outside of the loot discussion, I suspect that the kicking was actually so they could leave the dungeon without a penalty.
