    I never got into hamlet defense, not for itself, just the rest of the game ran too poorly and I couldn't get into it in general, but I hear it was quite popular. I don't think the 75 hour duration would go over well with the current player base though. Compressing it into a single Frontlines type encounter, perhaps extending it to an hour, I think would be exciting and an interesting take on PvP. Certainly they could do PvE versions as well, even the extended hamlet defense style or near constant FFXI-esque campaign style of encounter.

    Really I think most people are just looking to do something a little bit different with our crafters and gatherers. The community seems to be full of ideas and the devs seem to be full of 'not planning anything of the sort'.

    Crafting/Gathering dungeon worked pretty well in FFXI honestly, I enjoyed doing Moblin Mazes. Was interesting having to find the materials then craft a specified item based on clues given, or fish a specific fish up, etc. Was amusing and gave some decent rewards.

    Probably because what you describe is something you'd sooner see in League of Legends than you would side content in a non-MOBA MMORPG.

    How about a crafting/gathering dungeon where you support an NPC battle by building catapults, bridges, crafting instance-lifespan gear. Also have NPC crafters and gatherers in mixed teams.

    If you're a gatherer you can gather more materials for the crafters (NPC or your team players). If you're a crafter, you can use your skills to craft instance-lasting gear for the NPC combatants or gear for the gatherers so they can gather quicker and more.

    NPC-gatherers can only gather at "safe" areas while player gatherers can gather wherever they can survive and potentially skip certain parts of a progression tree. NPC-crafters can only make NQ gear unless they have HQ materials. Player-crafters can making HQ gear with NQ materials.

    Both player gatherers and player crafters give boosts to progress in their own way. The question becomes what do you give a boost on? Building up your production line or strengthening the NPC battle force? And when?

    I know you're new here, but anyone didn't ever tell you about Hamlet Defense at all?

    Seriously, alot of ppl been asking this since ARR day 1. And to repeat this over and over again, SE never ever say this content were removed back in 1.0. I know alot of ppl keep bitching about fight over those beast seals for relic quest, but aside that, this content was the one that truly mix the importance of all class.

    I don't ask to create new one, just bring the old one back maybe? Hamlet's old, not new. -_-

    As for others who doesn't know Hamlet, the inclusion of DoH/DoL are more than just craft/gather, there's strategy involved. While DoH craft to buff hamlet soldiers & DoL gather to debuff beastmens, whole party also need to make sure it doesn't go less or overboard to trigger certain hidden mobs that give huge bonus points.

    Aside all of this, I recall though that Yoshi did mention reworking on Hamlet, but this is kinda too long already for an existing content that never said being on hold. :?

    I've been posting same question every time those "Ask Question for Live Letters" came up, but this kept being ignored over and over again. Please give more definite answer this time. It's been a year already.

    Simple make certain mechanics in a dungeon that require repair for DoH or removal for DoL.

    Something else they could have taken a page from XI - Reives from Seeker's of Adoulin, the 'survival skills' they could have implemented or in such a way that if you bring along a botanist they can clear out alternate paths by chopping down overgrown branches/vines, or a miner digging out a blocked passage. (Basically expanding on the idea.)

    I hate to be whiny, but I am getting quite tired of these "No" like responses. Like why can't you do anything for the crafters?
    This game soley relies on Gear Treadmil and when ask for variety...still no, this Hamlet Defence business sounds like something fun for everyone.
    You barely put crafters all that useful in this game, and I actually enjoy crafting...in a MMO for once. At least we can make it more fun.

Is this seriously the way people think is appropriate to respond to a CM essentially saying "we know you guys want something like this; it's trickier to make than you think, but if we can make an idea that's good and that we can implement a) fairly for all classes and b) in a way that's balanced to how -this- game is then we'll gladly do it"? Honestly I wonder about this playerbase sometimes...

    If it were this "simple" something would've been implemented back in 2.1. Stop pretending you know more about how to design, balance, and play-test MMO systems than the people actually making the game.
