Too long-winded, doesn't sound epic enough & coop only... bland.
I never got into hamlet defense, not for itself, just the rest of the game ran too poorly and I couldn't get into it in general, but I hear it was quite popular. I don't think the 75 hour duration would go over well with the current player base though. Compressing it into a single Frontlines type encounter, perhaps extending it to an hour, I think would be exciting and an interesting take on PvP. Certainly they could do PvE versions as well, even the extended hamlet defense style or near constant FFXI-esque campaign style of encounter.
Really I think most people are just looking to do something a little bit different with our crafters and gatherers. The community seems to be full of ideas and the devs seem to be full of 'not planning anything of the sort'.
Probably because what you describe is something you'd sooner see in League of Legends than you would side content in a non-MOBA MMORPG.
