The different is huge and very easy to noticable in T9 because players generally have similar gear, when some PF can easily beat 1 add timer check, while another PF require 2 add timer check. The different is like... one party dealing double damage than another party.

I'm pretty sure that somewhere at somepoint either a dev or yoshi himself said that bad player skill negates about 20 iLvs worth of gear. This is absolutely 100% true. I have done more damage on my brd alt at i90 in a pug with another BRD at i105 thanks to soldiery/hunts/CT that did almost twice as less damage as myself. Pretty pathetic and inexcusable if you ask me. Everyone wants to yell at tanks and healers for being bad because you don't need to look at the fine details to see they're clearly not healing or not using cooldowns or moving bosses to incorrect locations, while everyone seems to think DPS is just DPS and if you just hit buttons you're doing your job. Not even close to true.

My absolute favorite is black mages who love Fire III > Blizzard III > Fire III > Blizzard III > Fire III > Blizzard III and think that because they're using their highest potency abilities and casting them faster than anything else back to back they MUST be doing massive deeps.
