Age Old Question: VIT vs. STR

So, my first 50 was my PLD. Granted at the time, new to the game, all other possible "newb" criteria, I was told VIT was where to spend my 30 points. Rebelling I put 5 in STR and 25 in VIT... okay I didn't know any better, put them where I wanted them and forgot I did it.

Now, ET years have passed and I thought, hey did I ever change that, after trying to help FC members out on a few of their classes.

Anyways, since T9 has been cleared I was hoping on some insight as to whether I really need the VIT since gear has just skyrocketed tanks hp. I haven't started SCoB and don't really know whether we are getting hit harder than normal but in primals I don't see much difference.

I just need to respec the stats again anyways and figured I'd check to see if I could use it somewhere else rather than VIT again. Even if someone might say "OMG, you don't have x hp, you're terrible."

can't go wrong with going full VIT. On the other hand, When 2.4 comes out there'll be echo buffs for 2nd coil and other old content, it won't affect you as much going in with mix stats if you aren't in the cutting edge progression groups.

Sorry but the sentence "since T9 has been cleared" is clearly contradicting "I haven't started SCoB", troll better OP

I fail to see how that is trolling. That the instance itself has been cleared allows tanks who have cleared it to shed some light on what stats are needed.

On that note: 7500ish HP on PLD (and pre-Defiance for WAR) is about the upper edge of where you need to be for T9 MT. OT can stack STR. In my case (PLD MT) I put my 30 points into STR for 2nd kill and onward and have about 7600 HP with food + party bonus.

This obviously speaks only to Normal and not Savage. There's so much AoE going out in Savage that full VIT currently seems like a must and even non-tanks are bringing i90 penta-meld accs.

He didn't say he cleared it. He said it's been cleared. As in, he's wondering about the builds that people that have cleared it have used, as to whether a mixed stat build is doable or if he'd need to reallocate his points.

It's not contradictory at all; it just requires a little reading comprehension.

I went 30 strength on my warrior and love it, I went 30 vit on my paladin and I can survive forever...that said, when first starting new content go with the vitality, then after you get the turns or primals down to a science go strength and melded accessories or dps accessories if your healers are competent

Darnus in t9 hits me for anywhere from 7 - 8 k without CD's. id say go vit until you and your party (when you do start) have a nice feel for everything.

If you are overgeared for SCoB (i.e. you did lots of hunts), go STR. VIT is good for staying alive and surviving the big hits but if you don't need it then might as well put it in STR for more damage. If you're rocking close to full 110 gear then you probably don't need 30 VIT.
