I quit playing for several months right after 2.2 come back thinking "oh man I'm gonna be so far behind."

I'm not obviously. I can understand many of you don't like this model but there's a reason they did it. It's profitable.

If they made FFXI-2 in todays current market, it would more than likely tank.

An mmo isn't something you just play for several months quit return etc, if you want something like that go play a single player rpg.

I took a long break from FFXI. Yet I wasn't left way behind. The gear I had farmed was still good, areas I knew where still relevant. Only thing was that I was a bit rusty.
