You're right, it is dumb. I'm just tired of seeing people with bad attitudes complaining about bad attitudes.

I understand that the official forums are just like the fansite forums, where people are vocally unhappy. However, people are also vocally getting happier.

Just like you've probably seen one too many posts of "OMG THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED NAO THIS GAME IS TERRIBAD", I think I've just seen one too many posts where someone is being negative while complaining about a negative atmosphere.

Look at it this way--most of our parents taught us not to swear since the age of 18 months. We've all undoubtedly since learned that there are times when using those words are acceptable. However, in an entirely text-based environment that is dedicated to discussion (such as these forums), one person breaking that taboo by calling a complaint "bitching" can very easily lead to the next person deciding it's okay to call someone else stupid.

We're not building a good community vibe, but the way the complaints about this are expressed are often counterproductive--inadvertently and out of frustration, no doubt, but that's all the more reason for us to be aware of the words we choose.

I agree with OP though. 99% of all posts are bitch fests. All suggestion are barely brain storming sesssions just debates on if they are a good idea or not. Sorry to me thats a bitch fest. Se wants us to not bitch about the game, but post what we find fun and what we would enjoy. So start coming up with ideas od stuff to add to the game that will make it more enjoyable. Add how it can be put in. Give the devs some ideas about what you like so they are not guessing. And putting in stuff you dislike.

Thats what i got out of the reading also. if you goto the japanese fourms and highlight a section then bing or google (i use bing) transulate you get a basic idea what the convo is like in there. More or less its like the convo on the english forums only difference is there accualy thinking of adding solutions and giving opinions rather then just hateing on the game. and haveing flame wars over it

Oh well yeah, you're right about that. Of course that was kind of a given that our side of the forums would get flooded with "Petition to petition the petition's petition" threads and the like. :P

Thats not to say we dont have our share of constructive topics, but at least the mods are locking down topics that really have nothing to add/criticize within reason.

You can make your point clearly and concisely (and *bluntly*) without being a jerk about things. "Blunt" does not equate swearing. You can do one without involving the other, and in fact, you win more people over that way.

umm no. bitch is a a word used to decribe an action now a days. it is used on any local radio show , tv show or everyday conversation. its when you make the word someting its not i.e takeing it out of context like you are doing here a flame war starts. to make a direct point you have to be direct.

But direct does not equal swearing. To illustrate further, it's a known psychological method of winning people over. You phrase things in a *positive* light, because being negative, making an attack, immediately causes people to close up or resist, no matter how valid your point might be. If you are really trying to make a change for the better, if that's your true goal and not just to bash people you disagree with, then you should aim to be positive.

Telling someone to "quit their bitching" is roughly tantamount to "shut the hell up" or even in a polite fashion, "keep your opinions to yourself." If we truly want to make the community better, we need to be aware of the kind of language we're using, and use language to win people over, not incite flames.
