    Maybe but it will turn a big clusterfuck into a giant clusterfuck. It's already hard to see sometimes wtf is going on and you want yet another player sized thing flinging around flashy spells?
    And an increased size egi will look ugly as sin so they need to remodel it as well.

    Why oh why must there be 500 threads on the same tired topic. I'm a hardcore SMN fan and I think the job is fine outside of a laughable Egi. When they make LBs job specific soonish I'm sure we'll be able to do something crazy like summon a full sized Primal for the LB. Just plz let this go already. It's never a good idea to have a pet be your main or even half of your DPS in my opinion. If anything they should just give them more buffs/debuffs like Contagion so that pets can have 2 damage abilities and 2 support. The job is fine, no major reworking needs to be done to correct the minor issues with SMN.

Imo their size is perfect, their design really doesn't matter in the least bit, the amount of micromanaging I need to do is perfect, I just want an excuse to use Ifrit. I don't want to see a major revamp, I just want to see 1 ability from Titan and 1 ability from Ifrit changed. I can live without this like I have been before.

    Edit: Noticed we're on the same server. Hopefully we can talk in game at some points, I feel like I have much to improve on skill-wise, but haven't found any resources or people to help me yet

    I actually think SMN needs a buff on non-movement dps, aka ruin 1 should get a 20 potency buff to be on par with other dps.

    How is that even relevant to the the guy you quoted ? It's clearly obvious that the ideas thrown around don't even take balance as a whole in consideration.

    With Ruin being approximatively ~ 13-16% of our damage, a 20 Potency buff on it would result in an approximate 3-4% damage increase on single target. While I wouldn't say no this, summoners have many advantages that other DPS jobs do not so I doubt this is going to happen.

    Yea. I don't see a ruin buff happening, but I certainly would not be opposed to it. Given that they gave BLM single target damage to rival MNK in addition to their already awesome aoe I certainly would not mind a small boost. :P

    They only rival monks on fights where they don't need to dodge. In most worthwhile fights, that won't be the case.

    Your opinion is irrelevant when there's examples of other games, even other genres, that pull it off just fine with less community backlash than FF14's "Affliction Warlock ripoff".

    Honestly, the only thing that should be changed about Summoner is the name. Make an entirely new class that actually represents the summoner archetype that's displayed in the vast majority of games out there. We're not asking for 0% Avatar DPS with a 50ft hulking minion of death that one-shots S-rank hunts. Just something that actually feels and operates like a summoner.

    It's relevant because all I'm asking for are some compromises to give the summoner some more intriguing design, befitting of a "FINAL FANTASY title", and they don't mind us asking. So why are you so against people asking for things, when that's all it is. I'm not begging for it, it's simply my feedback on the situation.

    Changing the game based on balance is like playing it safe, you won't do terrible, but you won't do great either. It's obvious that the entire design of summoner is playing it safe, since it works exactly like other MMO pets, and has the feel of them too (over the top tiny pets, little actual focus on the pets), it could simply be much more interesting, just go look at my original post on this thread to see my idea of it, if it changes for the better of progression later, then all is well, but without that in mind, the rework ideas are my opinion. You seem to be against ideas that are "thrown around" when the ideas that are thrown around are what become the most creative, of course balance is not considered, and it shouldn't be until a clear image is formed.

    This really shouldn't be something I argue about, all it is are my ideas on how to improve the experience! There aren't any ulterior motives behind it, promise.
