People are so obsessed over a number. This wouldn't even be a debate right now had they not put sands and oils on Hunts this early in the content cycle. They should have waited until 2.4 when people could try DFing SCoB.

Since you missed it the first time:I was thinking more about this, wondering why ANY of the tome gear was unique and not just untradable? It doesn't make much sense - who cares if you spend your tomes on more than 1 of a piece that can't be sold or traded (notwithstanding my issue with the rings)?
I think the only reason the gear is coded this way is because SE will be changing it to a dungeon drop in the future (like they did with all the Darklight gear). Myth gear will go to dungeons and myth tomes will be scrapped. Then the same for Soldiery. Ignoring the fact that you can actually have 5 pieces of the same "Unique" gear (by giving one to each of your retainers to hold) it makes sense to have dungeon dropped gear unique to keep you from winning gear from people that don't already have it.
How about "the coil ring sucks and I want something for my job that is a little more useful then just the 42 hp (3vit) it can give?"
Sorry, but the fending ring sucks and is barely above the level of being a downgrade. A second noct ring would be BIS at least with a 600+ parry build) since it is 19 acc (which gets me to the 502 acc for front facing mobs) vs 13 det which is kinda meh...
I am using the noct/weathered noct pair, but as with anyone else would prefer to be max ilvl.
Here is another reason:
Unique status on items that are bought is stupid. It makes sense that you cant sell or trade to limit the impact on the market, but not being able to buy two of them is stupid.
Just because something has been a certain way for a long time does not mean it wasn't stupid then too.
duuurrrr maybe because if you want full i110 it encourages you to do coil?
Or if you're entitled/lazy I guess it encourages you to whine on the forums.
As far as why people would want i110 if they're not doing coil, I think you're missing the entire concept behind games such as this. This game is nothing more than Pokemon in a fantasy setting. Gotta get em all. People keep playing the game in order to collect in-game stuff that has no real value in the real world. Don't get me wrong, I like the game (and liked Pokemon too for that matter).
Basically, you are asking to be able to catch Mewtwo without beating the Elite Four.
As long as people equate ilvl to skill, this will always be an issue.
lets be honest for a second, look over this thread and some others with the 'if you don't do coil, then your a baddie' or the 'if you not doing coil, then you don't need high ilvl' type crap...
the issue is not about the gear as much as the 'elitist mentality'.
The only people that equate it to skill are the people who actually lack it.As long as people equate ilvl to skill, this will always be an issue.

Most people realise that skill generally trumps gear.
