Why is housing so expensive? I was wanting to get a house with my fiancé but when he told me the prices it was a downer because I enjoy getting things like that and I haven't really found a good way to make money. If anyone has any good ideas about making money please let me know

3m is sufficient to purchase a small house, according from many posts i read from other players,
just play more(ie. unlock all daily roulettes and play them daily), spend less(ie. don't buy any crafted gear)
and sell fast(ie. sell item fast on MB), then you should have enough gil in 2-3months.

Pretty much that, although on balmung the smalls start at 5m and ive only seen a plot open for a small "once" in 2 months.

Buy cheap gear when lvling from shops, use dungeon pick up gears instead, pick up some kind of gatherer/profession
Originally i started fishing/cooking, was crap.
Started goldsmithing/mining and made 2 mil just this week "while" leveling to 50 doing pretty much only ore mining and ingot crafting from ores along the way.
hitting up some botany now.

FC houses are designed to be expensive. Multiple people within the FC are "supposed" to put their money towards the house. 5mil may sound like a lot for you, but if you get your FC mates to pay towards the house, it's easily affordable. 10 people, each paying 500k is more manageable than just the leader paying 5 mil.

This, it is specifically called "Free Company Housing" and is intended to be purchased by groups of people pooling their money together although some rich players use it as their private house. Personal houses will be introduced sometime in the near future although we don't know yet if two people can share a house. It will be interesting if they planned for that what with the wedding system being added probably around the same time.

I wanted personal housing like in ffxi where I can decorate it the way I want without a free company involved. That's one of the things I liked about ffxi is that it was my private housing where I could decorate it how I wanted to and even garden in there.

We're getting personal housing within the next few patches. It's "supposed" to be affordable for one person to buy because...they're personal. SE has not released any info about what it'll cost (as far as I know). You can buy a personal room in the FC house for 300k, but I dunno if you can allow other people to decorate and stuff.

Well you know what i already pay 15 bucks a month for my subscription plus whatever extra you want to buy they have a store? And i hope they add personal housing because personally i dont want to socialize with 12 year old kids who tell me how to do my job when i'm the one who pays for my account. And i've started telling people whenever they try to tell me how to do my job do you pay for my account? Seriously why would i want to socialize with ppl like that? And these ppl are in the Fc's that we dont want to join just because we want a personal house.... This game hmmmmmm
