I blame atma and the hunts.
I blame atma and the hunts.
I have gotten a lip every single day since 2.1 for a total of 244 lottery tickers not including over 20 lottery tickets a friend gave me and I didn't get a millions in any of them, while a friend of mine gets his million the day 2.1 came out and he gets a second one later. I feel like millions drop rate should be increased at this point because it is several months old.
It's not stupid just because I don't have one, it's stupid because I work on getting it for almost 5 months and don't get it yet other people get it right away or get more than one over and over, it should be equal for everyone, RNG should be balanced. And yet I've seen vanity items in other games be far more rare, not to mention untradeable. Because if they bumped up the chance to get it to something you'd likely accept, it would then be too easy to get and lose the vanity of it, because just about everyone would have one.
So you're basically saying you don't mind it being rare, but it's stupid that you don't have one, because it's rare.
Then it's not RNG anymore.
RNG is flawed. The sooner everyone realizes this, the better the devs will get at designing meaningful content instead of soulless grinds.
It is a fallacy of logic to think it is cheaper to farm it yourself. Even if you got it, your down 2 mil gil, because you could have sold it.
Opportunity cost of selling maps & time spent doing maps > spending money on it.
Just because you didn't buy the maps doesn't mean they don't have the same exact value. (minus tax)
Anyone with any basic understanding of economics and statistics will tell you to just buy it if you want it that bad.
Its simple gambling, some people win, most people lose.
Its people like you who play the lottery, instead of saving money... buying a home... feeding your kids...
I can see what you're saying and yes I agree opportunity cost plays into it. Regardless of if you use the map or sell it, there is a cost there. To me the OP is choosing to use the 'product' instead of selling the map, saving up the money they would have gotten from said sale, and then buying the Blue Bird instead. It;s all about choices, work for it ourselves or pay someone else for the service. I got what you were saying, that was until the last comment. Now seeing you didn't quote anyone I'm not sure who you are speaking too, but if it's to the OP then I'm not sure if this last comment makes sense.
But over all, to anyone saying people should just buy the bluebird instead of going out and getting it. To me it is 6 of one and half dozen of another.:
If the OP wishes to earn something instead of spending their money, then the last part of the above quote doesn't make sense to me, but as I said they could have been speaking to another party. But regardless... They are wanting to work for it themselves, and not pay someone else to do it for them. So in sense, yes they are not getting the gil they would have got from selling the map, but they aren't wasting their gil either, only their time. Yes time does essentially cost money, but everything in life, be it paying someone else to do it, or doing it ourselves takes time.
Ex: If we change the oil in our car, or pay someone to do it we still have to use our time either way.
A) I do it myself, only spend money for the oil I need, then change the oil myself spending my time.
or
B) I take my time to drive it to someone, spend the money to have them to it while I spend time waiting, or drop it off and spend someone else's time to come get me and take me back, then go home.
Either way I have spent time and money, but one way might have been cheaper seeing either way I would have spent the time doing it. Its like Staris said, what is the opportunity cost... but what is it for playing this game period? Or for that matter, even posting here? The cost is other things we could be doing, going outside or hanging out with family/friends or going to see a movie etc...
But if people are willing to work and gain something themselves, instead of tossing away money, I don't see how that would equal someone who plays the lotto and doesn't take care of their kids. Which is why I am wondering if the above quote is speaking to someone else instead of the OP?
I, myself, am very much the same way in the game and in RL. If I can earn, or work towards obtaining something and I am more than capable of doing it, then why 'pay' someone else to do it? I'd rather spend time, knowing I earned it, than pay someone else for their work and be out the money. Now I can't do everything, so there will always be services I'll need, but in that case I feel it is required.
Like a person who doesn't have any crafts to 50 needs a crafter to help them, or they could just spend the gil and buy it. They have choices, and one might be more time consuming, but might save gil in the end.
Anyway... OP I know your frustration, I am still hunting for my Bluebird as well, seeing I refuse to buy it. But I think it will feel good when it finally drops and Iknow I earned it, plus the gil I'm making off the times I get! Best of luck, hope it drops soon!![]()

I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.
It's a fucking vanity minion. You don't *need* it. The whole point is that it's rare. If you really want it, buy it. But don't lament you aren't winning the lottery.
Atma, mirrors, map drops, primal mounts, almost everything in this game relies on RNG. RNG is old and should be abolished, sure make it so it takes a while for things to drop but make it something you grind and work towards rather than relying on luck for everything. Achievements are perfect as long as it's realistic, or make a fail safe where it will drop after doing it xxx amount of times but it can also drop before that set amount as well.

lolYou think that's bad?
"Never Met a Corpse I Couldn't Rifle
Earn a cumulative total of 100,000,000 gil from defeating enemies.
Title Awarded:
Ruthless Gillionaire"
It's a Legacy achievement, and enemies gave you only 10 - 50ish gil each... only beastmen too (mind, I only had 50k gil by the end of that; nowhere near the goal). Anyway as for peisteskin, I know the feeling. Kept clearing them through with no luck on a bluebird (500ish including friends' maps). Someone managed to get one, however, but was really nice and traded me it since he didn't want it (at the cost of me trading tonberry minion though, oddly).
For quoting, you sure do miss this one I posted after that one:
RNG works pretty well in this case, it's not an item you need, it's a vanity item that only reason to exist is that it's rare. It's sought because of that. According to your logic, there would be no rare items in the game.Atma, mirrors, map drops, primal mounts, almost everything in this game relies on RNG in this game. Heck, the fact that you can buy it's alone a "fail safe". You want it? You buy it. Don't want to buy it? Play the lottery game.
