WHY ARE YOU PLAYING A BARD IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SING?!

Daily post limit reached which Is lame, wanted to say so much, but until another controversial topic comes up, I doubt you all will see me. :P bring more to the table, I play songs and my raid all does over 400 dps on t8. Monk and drg over 450. T9 is when im 20 percent dps but that's because bard is most suited in that fight. Anyway I don't think any song is needed in 4 mans or 24 mans except foes, none of the fights are long enough to strain tp and if you die or others die and your mp ooms you need to have back up to get out those situations, I'm not perfect, but reality check, I know what bard is, and it's a dps so I'm going to focus on it more than your badly managed mp pool

What, your logic is different and completely different than mine, I'm basing this off the label sqaure enix gave each job accordingly. Healers heal (green icon) dps do damage (red icon) and tanks keep aggro/mitigate (blue icon) bard is a dps (red icon) so they can focus on dps if they want

But if you have the skills that can help your group if the situation arises, then you should use them! Why is that such a hard concept to grasp? Do DPS players forget about their self-healing skills and SMNs refuse to SC Ress because they're not "green icon" so they can just focus on DPS if they want? That's the whole concept of utility, and BRDs just happen to have the most of it. Lack of flexibility will make you a poor group player, no matter how good you claim your DPS to be.

Right, you are saying that because a bard is labeled a DPS that that is what they should *only* be doing. That is not true. Everyone should do what they can to support the pt. I have even seen monks tank with fists of earth and skullsunderer. My logic: labels mean NOTHING.

What, if I was saying I was perfect I would say I never run out of mp, but in fact I have admitted I have ran into this situation and had precautions to get out of it because I'm a decent healer, x ethers and shroud are skills I use to get out of bad situations, and since I use them I didn't run into a situation where I needed ballad

You implied that you were perfect from the start. Do you honestly think your the first person figure out how to say something without actually saying it? Stop fooling yourself. Stop looking for reasons not to use song. Sooner or later, they will be needed and it will be your job to sing the songs that are needed. Period.

What makes you even say that when I'm over 20% of dps in endgame raids, sometimes I wonder if people in the forums see the bigger picture, all content has been designed with no bards in the setup in mind. If you so desperately need a song that you call bards who don't sing bad, then just You're just a bad player period

I don't need disembowel to show up dps who don't know how to play their job

If your MNKs, DRGs, SMNs and BLMs are doing less DPS than you, then I'm sorry but your group is terrible.

The point that you're not getting or perhaps refusing to get is that Bards are DPS, but they're the weakest dps out of ALL other dps classes (assuming gears of equal tier). The trade off for being the weakest is the ability to sing songs that benefit the survival and dmg output of the rest of the team PERIOD.

Without songs, I wouldn't even consider bards in most encounters simply because their dmg output is crap without the utility. Think of Bards as insurance, they suck but you pony up the money anyway in case shit happens.

I don't really enjoy bard's dps style but these threads make me use it in dungeons and trials for the last couple days (I had it at 50 for a while because I was bored).
