Interesting. Is this all in regard to PvP, PvE, or both? I don't see why they'd buff PLD but leave WAR in its sorry PvP state by comparison. Last I checked, PLD were considered better than WAR in PvP, unless you count MRD. And would that "buff on BRD's distance penality" be a buff to the BRD or a buff to the penalty? I know it seems like a stupid question, but the way you worded it has me wondering.

I wonder if any of these rumors are true.

pfft, why? she's already easy to kill but no one hardly even attacks her! she can be stunned, silenced, nuked, and whatever but rarely anyone does. I mean damn, in Frontlines she only has about 3k hp; what they gonna decrease her to? 1k hp so she can be 1 shottable and pretty much make SCH's heal without a pet? i am more annoyed that SE even responded to the tears, rather than just ignoring them. in Frontlines when I'm running with a mob after me, majority of the time Eos is either slept, stunned, binded, knocked back, or is trailing so far behind me that I'm not even getting her heals anyways. all i have to do is watch my cds and timers and i'm gucci until I can kite them to my team for them to get nuked. I have kited enemies across the map even without Eos. its nothing not even complicated and there is nothing op about that whatsoever and i don't even heal for that much.

SCHs will still be hard to kill healers not because of our heals, not because of Sprint, and not because of Eos, but because Square Enix has raised and encouraged a breed of baddies in this game by making the PVE content too easy and making high end gear "welfare loot". so these same bads come into PVP thinking they can just mash their face on the keyboard hitting random keys like they did on Scylla and then get surprised because they can't ignore their combos and PVP skills and still down a SCH or WHM. then they come to this forum with tears of woe that they can't down a SCH or they can't down a WHM or whatever and that ZOMG they're OP! no we're not op. you just got out-smarted by a healer that knows their class. THAT is what is happening, it has absolutely nothing to do with X class is too op because NO class in this game is.

Making easy content such as Crystal Tower and Syrcus Tower, where people can 100% ignore mechanics and still down a boss comes with a price. the price of raising a breed of players whether they are in North America, Europe or Japan who just remain shit players because they don't learn their class or how to handle certain situations and that bad playing style transcends across both their playing in PVE and PVP content. SE could nerf every class in the game to the ground and make us stick people and bads will still complain because bads will be bads. they don't want to learn, because there is no incentive to learn when they can just group up with 23 other bads and still down a boss and get high end gear every week as long as they put in the time. you know because all gear in the game should be accessible to everyone so no player will be left behind! they do no research on their class on how to connect combos. they do no metagaming or theorycrafting. hell, i question if they even read their tooltips or understand what they're reading. like seriously, just yesterday I was in a Wolves' Den match with a somewhat geared DRG and what does he do? chuck friggin spears most the damn match. not a fuck was given about using weapon throw or combos and its free to everyone now! or the numerous MRD/WARs I come across in Frontlines when I ask them to respec to dps because we have too many tanks, talkin about they're dps but are geared and specced in straight vit. NO you are not a dps, you are a wall of fail. so you see, it doesn't make any difference how much SE appeases bads or how easy they make the game, because they will still be bad and still complain. and I bet later that same DRG and MRD/WARs will complain that they couldn't down the healer because it was too op!

how does a bad change a light bulb? they spin the whole friggin house rather than just turning the light bulb. rather than learn their class, they whine and cry to devs that X class is too hard to kill or "op" thus making the game lose its quality for everyone. and what happens once the game loses its quality? people leave for better games.

Who knows. Japan 2ch could have been anything. Speculation right now is all caster jobs are outplaying physical jobs. The fix would be address to this issue. This is not something new, I have seems this scenario where healing specs are dominating in PvP in WoW before. Blizzard's counter measure is a straight 30% healing reduction in PvP zone.

I don't think there is a need to go over extreme on this adjustment, because you should see this coming. Scholar is a healing job in FF14, but it's role has been iffy back in FF11. Right now, Scholar is like a refined RDM and it's skill cap is low because of both healing and damage. While expert Scholar don't like this and I agree on this, but it is kinda being abused At the moment. There are players will jump on the winning wagon and i think they are the one who caused this.

Generally speaking, changes to PVP cannot go without also affecting PVE

Fix on the PLD, by all mean it may not be something you like. In concept, PLD is not a damage job, but current mechanic where defensive value is not in play, it has to be one. This fix may just remove you from being a dap back to a tank.

It is true for Blizzard, but S/E have been using two set of values for PvP and PvE, for example, archery distance penalty only exist in PvP.

    Greetings PvPers,

As quoted in the original post, this is what was mentioned by one of our counterparts in Japan:
The development team has been continuing to monitor battle balance in PvP content, and in patch 2.35 we will be making adjustments to certain PvP actions. We’ll be releasing all the details in the patch notes.

What are you talking about? CC values differ in PVP from PVE and not to mention, some skills don't work in pvp. As well as bard's ranged damage deduction only exists in pvp. There has been no changes in pvp that has affected anything in pve so far.

Miasma and Storm's Eye healing debuffs being reduced from 50% to 20% was applied to PvE and PvP both, though it hardly matters for PvE and I'm just playing devil's advocate.

Oh, I see. So the SE staff member over at that JP thread about Scholars was just saying that they have their eyes on pvp balance in general (not just scholars), and that they'll be making balance changes through the PvP skills. That makes sense. The conversations on the JP 2ch were probably just speculation as to what was going to take a hit or get buffed.

I don't think that they were strictly saying that SCH was going to get a nerf via PvP skills, but rather that, if they were found to need it, then they would, just like any other class, come patch 2.35.

In short: "We'll be balancing the classes for PvP in the future."

    Well, duh, I suppose.
