I'm sorry, but have you even played a melee DPS class? The only way a bard's DPS can compete with melee DPS is if the bard pops all of his cooldowns.

That said, I love melee DPS - having to move around to achieve maximum damage is a hell of a lot more fun to me than sitting in one spot firing off more arrows than there should be in any quiver.

Dear OP, you should try playing FFXI, it may suits your taste better. Less moving all over the place. More grinds. And SE did their best turning FFXI into FF14 when it comes to ease of play. Every single months, updates galore, new things, adjustment etc. Just take a break from FF14, and come back when they announce next expansion. You won't miss much, but you will have plenty of stuffs to do when you are back.

Are you admitting you use parsers?
Why not? You can parse as much as you want. You´re just no tallowed to use Parser Reults to blame someone on his Dps.

    1) Hunts have their problems, but DPS queues have been long since the beginning of time. I've personally experienced no significant difference in my queue times as a monk since the patch, though your mileage may vary.

    2) More or less in agreement. The zodiac line is fine in and of itself, but the Atma portion needs serious work. An RNG gating mechanic tacked onto old content feels like lazy design.

    3) Before the game was even (re)released SE clearly stated that's how it was going to work: old content is nerfed or adjusted when new content is released. Old content can't stay relevant forever.

    4) What? A good MNK or DRG that knows their class and knows how to think on their feet should just about always "parse brutal damage" in most single target encounters. The tradeoff for being such a powerhouse is having to contend with a more "complex" rotation and mechanics that force a lot of movement. Yes, dealing with Flank/Rear attacks can be irritating when the mob wants to do the Manderville, but that goes right back to being able to think on your feet and adjusting your rotation on the fly to accommodate movement.

Voicing opinions on the forums is a good thing. Good or bad review. Most of the time it doesn't seem like your comment is heard, but in reality often times, we eventually get hot fixes and patches because so many people took the time to explain their issues on here and SE does hear it. It wont change over night mind you, as Developers, they have many many many things to do. Especially with 2.4, fanfest, and the expansion on the way. It may also seem like they are ignoring it, but I actually think they are hearing the complaints and are trying to figure out the best way to handle it. Once they know and have developed and tested it, they'll make their plans known.

This being said, if the OP isn't having fun, I suggest taking a break and every now and again drop by lodestone or the forums to see if something changed or something new tickles your fancy, chances are when you decide to return things might be fixed or changed or at least have calmed down a bit so more casual players can do the content.

2 and 3 i can agree with you on for the most part, but 1 and 4 is so far off base you aren't even in the ballpark.

    1. i'm having more fun with the hunt system than i have anything else yoshi has put in game. it's something that i can go and do with a big group of people and enjoy the day playing the game. in other words, no stupid weekly lockout like they have on everything else.

    4. if you have a brd out damaging a mele in any single target encounter(boss fight) then the mele is really bad. i actually enjoy the movement involved with playing mele right now. you have a trade off with a brd having the better low end with its easier base actions with the mele having the much higher top end once they are both playing their classes well.

    2. i mostly agree with this as most people felt compelled to do them, but honestly this is something that many people(including me) asked for. many of us asked for some sort of grind. i was glad to see some kind of grind come into the game as it prolonged the time i had something to do in game each day.

    3. of all of your points this is the ONLY one in which i completely agree with. this having multiple easy mode dungeons that are face rolled are wasted time developing them. sure, eventually they add hard modes of the same dungeon, but by then you are sick of the first version. i am fine with the echo buffs on the older content though for those that haven't completed them yet though. i feel people should get some help once content gets old if they are stuck on them. i do agree that we should have more side grades than constant upgrades though. give some gear for the different pieces of content where a mix of all is the BiS for that job you are playing.

I'll probably get banned for this, but
Well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

1- I agree with you 100% there, many others do as you can tell by the countless threads about that, yet no official response.

2- Atma is terrible, but it is true that atma is a choice, there are several ways to get to the same result (except for i115 weapon) and atma/animus is just another option. This doesn't mean the system should remain as bad as it is right now, it needs a change.

3- I agree to some extent, ilvl sync would fix that but should ilvl sync be implemented now there will be no reason to gear up for people who don't do coil, gearing up to the point of making dungeons extremely trivial is something we will have to live with.

The three first EX primal fights were turned into mount and vanity because they are considered outdated content, you cannot expect people to stay forever locked doing old fights, you can only do Garuda EX so many times before it gets boring.

The common perception is that high difficulty = high reward, but that would only be true if content would be getting harder over the time, which is not the case, content difficulty is independent from each other, some people who could never beat Titan EX are able to beat Levi EX or Ramuh EX, some newer fights will be harder, some will be easier and I'm fine with that, an ever-escalating difficulty would eventually reach a point where new content will be impossible to clear by 99% of the playerbase, specially in this game where they work with really small numbers for damage and HP.

4- That was an odd choice of words if you play on PS4, but moving from that, I think melee classes are just fine. Bards have a higher initial burst, yeah, but past that any melee should catch up and surpass them after a while, besides if they have to sing the TP or MP song their damage will go down until the song is no longer needed. I'd worry more about the future second archer job (ranger?) who will probably be pure damage with little drawbacks.

Incorrect, you are not allowed to use parsers at all, admitting you use parsers is enough to get you banned.

Theres no-way a BRD can out DPS a melee when equal geared and skilled (unless they are both bad :P). If they tank is moving the boss all over the place, spinnning like a turnip then they are a bad tank. As soon as telegraph disappears and boss starts doing animation tank can move back inot position so the Boss doesnt move at all. If melee keep dieing to PBAE and cleaves, they are simply either bad players, not paying attention or both.

I mained BRD up until 2.2 clearing everything prior to that as BRD. Joined a Static and they needed a MNK, so switched to MNK, never looked back. I find BRD pretty boring to play now in comparison, seems sluggish and pretty much park in one place and pewpew. Whereas MNK is a lot faster paced and needs more awareness.

So, no melee players who know what they are doing don't need your pity. Those who do what you say happens, maybe as tbh, they aint that good at the role.

Some of you folks really need to get over the idea of parsers. They are being used. In your party! Right now! That PF you joined? Ten to one someone in it is parsing. It's not the end of the world unless you are truly terribad and if you are, get better, don't whine that someone found out how bad you are.

Yoshi-P didn't put training dummies in the game because he genuinely thought we just liked hitting inanimate objects. He put them there with the expectation they would eventually (or currently) be used to number crunch.

Aside from that, a lot of the things the OP says are true. Queue times for content HAS gone up. If you haven't noticed, it's because you aren't watching the clock. I am leveling a DPS class and the times are over half an hour. Pre hunts they were 15 minutesish, and thats just for dungeoning. Queueing up as a dps for high level content can stretch to an hour or more. Why? Hunts, everyone is doing the hunts. They give too much rewards and I don't know why SE hasn't corrected it. It's not even like it's just a couple people complaining - it's different people every day on these forums talking about hunts. Hunts and Atma are the top complaints, and yet the devs think that it's more appropriate to respond to a request for a freaking guest book.
