If you say so, but people aren't born homosexual or not. Cells don't know race, color, or sex and genes don't know likes, dislikes, attitude, thoughts, etc. My college has actually been doing research on this "gay gene" nonsense and currently, there is no evidence to support the claim that it exists. Hence, there is no such thing as being "born gay." Therefore, it IS a choice. I have no problem with it at all, but people need to understand that you can't be born one way or the other. You are just born.

Just wanted to point out, that while cells may not inherently know race, color, sex, there is something called cellular memory. Which means that if true, every cell in your body remembers what it once was. In transplant cases it has even helped solve crimes because the recipient started regaining the memories of it's prior owner, even leading up to the death and who killed them.
People also can take on the likes and dislike of their donors, ranging from beer, food, and even who they are attracted to. Amazing right?

Anyone under the age of 18/16/ where ever you are, cannot consent to sexual relations. Animals cannot consent at all. Under law.
What we have left is adult woman and men who can do whatever they like with other adult woman and men, as long as it does not kill/maim the other.

As for Polygamy:
Why the hell does anyone think it is anyone else's business what CONSENTING adults do with their time? Are they killing children? No. Are they harming anyone at all? No.

CONSENT is this MAGICAL thing, you see.

Yes, they should allow same-sex marriage. It's a role playing game and limiting the roles people may play when it can be easily added is just pigheaded.
If there is a marriage system at all, all PC's (Player Characters) regardless of what physical sex or mental gender they have, should be able to wed.

As I said before, many of the issues that same sex marriage has on Earth, no dot apply at all in Eorzea. And as someone else said, it would be easier for SE to implement same-sex and cross-race marriage than to actually make it man/woman of the same race. Even some characters in Eorzea actually give some bisexual vibe and whatnot.

Really people? It's not going to affect how you play. At all. Perhaps two or three shouts a day of some guy celebrating his wedding to another guy and that's it. And if it really gets to you and your religion, we'll call it "civil unions".....for EVERYONE.

I'm sure someones brought up how Thancred was hitting on the Momodi in the Ul'dah storyline, which hints at hetero-humanoid relations being an acceptable practice in eorzea. as for homosexual marriages, why not? Its pretty sad that we have to even have this debate.

EDIT: Lest we forget that a videogame is made how the creator wants to make it, he is essentially god. So any beliefs we try to bring in from our world is somewhat irrelevant to Eorzean matters.

I'm surprised this thread lasted as long as it has. It seemed destined to burn from the first post.

That being said, anime and Japanese media (including this game) is literally FULL of dudes who carry themselves/look/act/sound like women. Anyone who has played as a male elezen can tell you that the devs must have accidentally applied the female animations to the models. It seems ridiculous to have so many gender confused dudes running around, and be repulsed by same sex couples at the same time.

First of all ... religion is bogus. You're not gonna spend eternity in hell for being gay because there is no hell. It's just you and the earthworms once you croak.

Second ... big deal if 2 people of the same sex can't have kids together. There are tons of orphans in the world who need a loving home, and two men or two women can surely provide that. And if the people were straight, maybe they wouldn't want kids anyway. It's still not the end of the human race (I've met plenty of people who don't want kids, both men and women). And I'm straight, but I've seriously considered adoption over regular birth (for personal reasons).

Third ... this is a game, and an RPG at that. Enough said.

Fourth ... Elton John's gay but a damn good music artist. So obviously gays can contribute something to the world.

Fifth ... Michael Jackson was not gay and did not molest little boys (sorry just thought I needed to throw that in there).
