That's what I'm trying to get at, and personally I think there's just too many crystals in the world. You litterally can teleprot to every corner even in the city... I MEAN THEY HAVE TELEPORTS INSIDE THE CITY!!!!This is why I am in favor for " Restricted Teleports".
1) Hardcores that want this sort of thing will be limited to how many times they teleport a day/week etc.
2) Casuals that have only 2-4 hours a day can still teleport as normal because the restriction would be within their limits thus it's like it's not even there.
Meeting half way, but personally I don't mind the system we have now, but I would be in favor with something as this.
LMAO! So you say you want to feel more connected to the world THEN you say the lore is all crap. So what do you even want to feel "connected" to!? HAHAHAHA, the little credibility you had is all gone.
You're right, you are not telling me how to play the game, you are telling me how I SHOULD play the game and then trying to force it on everyone. If the restrictions will not effect me, or the majority of other players, why bother? What is your point. If you have a solution (I.E. just do not teleport if you do not like it.) Then why continue your dribble? Making up excuses why EVERYONE needs to be restricted so YOU can play a certain way, instead of just playing that way is just immature and quite egotistic.
If the only way YOU can feel connected to the world is to walk from point a to point b...then walk from point a to point b. Why is that unacceptable to you?
Also feel free to link me to your multiple level 50's profile's, you know like this. I wouldn't mind checking them out during my last hour of work!

You didn't read what I had wrote. I said yoshi already killed the lore by changing what was already established especially with the teleporting lore. Thus in result losing connect with me the player that much more, even if it's a little bit.
You do not see the bigger picture me and others are trying to paint, I'm sorry for that. Do I like walking from point a to point b all the time? NO, but sometimes things we don't like are necessary to have a grander experience.
For example: Do you like doing house hold chores? I don't, but once your done you feel good about it, especially when you see the end result. It's the same thing here, but teleporting is only a small part of the bigger picture that i want. Doing something you may not like has benefits especially if it's working towards your end goal (scientifically proven).

Trouble is, this is all really just a moot point. Yoshi has been 100% clear that he set out to create the hyper-casual, super kiddie friendly, zero entre barrier Disney Tea Cups ride arcade game where you just plug a quarter in and are in the action 10 seconds later.
This has attracted a vast number of gamers that were specifically looking for that experience and while not every dyed in the wool FF fan was looking for that enough people were that they are not going to change it now. FFXI was not a bad game. It was an absolutely amazing game that catered to what the industry felt, back then, was an insufficient number of paying customers in the west.
So here we are, sitting in what Square gave us as the 'westernized FFXI' Easy this, handed that, two second travel, blah zero depth classes and combat. This what the western gamers have been on forums demanding of countless other titles that dared to venture into more immersive and complex designs and Square made a smart move. They transformed 14.1 into one more theme park to appease the masses.
Now the issue we have now is that there is still a portion of the player base that LIKED 11 and even many aspects of 14.1 but there simply were not enough of us to be catered to. So what choice do we have? Shake our fists at the heavens and demand change we know is never going to happen because it would upset the current arcade sect or just bide our time until a game more to our liking comes a long and we move on.
In the end it we all know it will be the latter. Just like all those desiring a more quick in and out, no fuss gaming experience left 11 in time those of us looking for the complexity and depth that made FF what it is will eventually find the shine off the apple and we will leave too. Such is the life of MMOs.
I hate to say it, but I love the game as it is right now. If they made such a drastic change for the worse, such as removing/grossly limiting teleporting, then the "grander experience" for me would be my epic search to find a new MMO.As much as I love FF14, I would simply get time gated out of doing much more than sitting in town and using Duty Finder over and over. Open world content would be something I'd have to save for the weekends, at best, or waste my entire night just running from point A to point B.
So while I appreciate that you are trying to paint the picture of what YOU consider to be the ideal MMO experience, you're painting for me a horror show of what could have been and what I'm glad never was.
So we have established that:
A. You do not currently play the game
B. You do not like the lore or world.
C. You would like to implement a feature you know no one, including yourself would enjoy.
D. You believe in order to make something enjoyable it needs to be unnecessarily tedious because science.
Honestly I have no problem with household chores but if I could do them faster AND have the same result I would. Who wouldn't?
Can we please let this thread die? The OP doesn't play the game and likes boring stuff, okay. No reason to give this any more attention, it's already received too much.

It's funny that so many things that people in this thread are threatening would make them leave are a lot of the things that those that skipped 14 or left it early would find as reasons to come back so meh. You can't please everyone. Square just needs to stop being so wishy washy and decide who they are going to please so everyone else can move on to another title and stop giving them money.
So, you contradict yourself between posts. And these quests of no meaning to you, provide an opportunity for lore, & gil & xp for other jobs...Have you played any other mmo? Just curious, because every other mmo does the exact same quest design. It's called mmo on rails or I like to call it quest train. It is designed in a way where one quest will lead you to 10 others in a different area. It's probably one of the worst mmo designs in my opinion, because not only do the quests have no real meaning in themselves because there's soo many of them, that they cannot do quality, which I want in a video game I pay monthly for. Another reason is the game tells you where to go and does the exploring for you, there is no sense of wonder, or help from the community.
oh I see... you're trolling us all. Well played.

Doubt this thread will die, these type of threads attract, all the unhappy FFXI players that just linger here.
Which makes sense, players who are happy with the game are probably busy playing, but those of us who are unhappy visit the forums more often, hoping our cries are heard.
Trouble is, this is all really just a moot point. Yoshi has been 100% clear that he set out to create the hyper-casual, super kiddie friendly, zero entre barrier Disney Tea Cups ride arcade game where you just plug a quarter in and are in the action 10 seconds later.

So yep I'm sorry, you current content players are just going to have to deal with us for a while longer. Unfortunately, as many gripes as we have with this theme park MMO, it's the best thing we have right now, so some of us whine about giving us our own server or others try "unsuccessfully" to compromise with the existing player base.
--------------------------
I think the biggest thing the casual players who are happy with the game fail to realize is that, not only do non-casual players play more, but as a direct result of spending more time in a MMO, and any game for that matter, including FFXI, we are spoiled by once living a second life as you may, in a single cohesive world, we could visualize the continents, and the zones and how to travel from one place to another, and the lore behind each area, in that sense it was a living world.
But if you don't play enough, this doesn't matter to you, but right now FFXIV in my mind doesn't really exist as a single world, instead its a bunch of interspersed disconnected zones, that have no relation to each other. And worst of all I have a bare visualization of how these zones connect to each other and their position in the overall world map, yes I can check, but it hardly matters, and since it doesn't matter the world is just unengaging, and feels lifeless.
So if you only play for a couple hours a day, I guess none of this really matters, but for others who called FFXI a second home, we feel a bit homeless, we don't want to go back to FFXI, not much new there and over here it's a bit sad.![]()
