I personally feel like they wait too long to begin the summer event.
Around where I have live...and lived, school and colleges starts mid-late August. They should of released it mid July at the very latest.

FFXIV tends to follow seasons in Japan. We just ended our "rainy season" here in the Tokyo area, so it's now officially summer... and this basically lasts through August, so we should be having a summer event in the coming weeks.

I agree, it`s now summer in Tokyo so we will get the summer event soon.

It is giving yukata and kimono this year. If you go here http://xivdb.com/ and go to the 2.3 patch at the end of the added items they have the yutakta and kimono.

After looking it also shows new swimsuits so might get both.

Actually, last year there wasn't a Moonfire, it was Firefall. The two events seem to alternate years, with Firefall occuring in the summer proper and Moonfire in the last weeks of summer. They probably alternate them to keep people from burning out on the events. Likely a concern after the first or second Summer Breeze of XI that was extended due to people having missed the beginning of it because of a disaster somewhere. It lasted for months... near the end people just wanted it to finish already.
