These are my same thoughts whenever I see this topic pop up. I must be missing something :x
I haven't examined soot black under every condition, but I think it could just be that daylight makes it appear as a lighter shade.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
You know, I was thinking just that and went to play about some more. For the life of me, everything I dye black in sunlight looks black with a subtle sheen from the light hitting it. Another few examples (ignore the fact my hair has changed since the last screenshot, these are taken with a trip to the Aesthetician between the previous pic):
Leatherworker set minus the body since it's already black by default:
Militia Tights, a regular example used that dying shades are bad, with some Cloth based gloves:
Even the full dyed Drachen Armour looks black and retains its metallic sheen:
I can only surmise that people who think this isn't black don't have much experience with sunlight and its effects on colour...![]()
