[dev1070] How far away are repair process upgrades?

I was going to hold off on this one for a bit, but with 1.18 dealing more damage to players who die solo - now's a good of a time as any, I suppose.

In the most conservative of terms, the current repair interface is not very user friendly. Are there plans to improve this system anytime in the near future? My concerns:
    • In my opinion, a player should have the option to carry around their own repair materials - that way, if a repair is required, but the repairmen doesn't actually have that material on them, the exchange can still take place if the repairee is prepared. In my mind, this option is absolutely required, as it seems like a common courtesy. Putting the burden on the repairer to carry around repair materials for others seems... wrong.
    • Placing repair requests in the bazaar window is extremely inconvenient in and of itself. If inventory and bazaar get separate tabs, why should repair requests not?
    • Requiring two slots of bazaar (Damaged Item + Repair Reward) to repair one item is kind of ridiculous - if the player is selling absolutely nothing, only five items at a time can be repaired?

To me, the repair process sounds most efficient in the following scenario:

A player's hat, pants, and scepter are currently damaged. Unfortunately, their bazaar is currently at 10/10 because apparently, while it is possible to physically hold 99 raw pineapples, the juice from 36 of them takes up the same physical area. (HOW. BIG. IS THAT. JUG? Anyway, I digress.)

The player opens their inventory and scrolls to the first item, the hat. It requires a velveteen fent for repairs, and the player is currently carrying 50 of them. The player chooses the item, "Seeks Repair," and enters the Repair Requests tab. The option is selected to allow access to their inventory's stash of fents at the time of repair, and offers a 2k reward. The request is saved, and becomes visible to potential repairees - an icon designates the repair as one that doesn't require consumption of the repairer's materials. The same process is then repeated for the pants. Unfortunately, the player is out of silver nuggets at the moment - so they don't have the option to use their own repair material. A request is added, lacking the aforementioned icon, with a 4k reward for the trouble.

    Thoughts? Updates?

Yes please. some way to use the damage item holders materials is needed.

As a 50 crafter, i do not normally carry repair materials on me to repair others. I dont even carry repair mats for my own stuff as i leave town with plenty of condition already. However, those who need repair tend to know what they need, and have it on their person.

It doesnt matter how this is addressed, as long as its addressed.

    my thoughts

1 allow one to trade items that need repairs
2 show rank range of items of said craft can repair at.
repairing from an inventory seems pretty easy to do. Least I had no issues but I didn't have any issues trying to repair stuff for others if I was able through a bazaar Once you figure it out it is pretty easy to do.

There are some cases where I'd do this just to get rid of the thing, Twelve know I've got items that are sitting around for no reason due to this. However, the day I hand over my Dodore Doublet to be "fixed" is the day they pry it off my little lalafell corpse.

The formula is a little less well-known than it should be. At this time, the rank required to repair an item is based on one of two factors:

    (A) The optimal rank of the item
    (B) The rank of the synthesis that makes the item.

Subtract 10 Ranks from whichever of these two numbers is lower and you will arrive at your requiement.

With that said? Yes - the display would be a hundred times more convenient. It's hard enough trying to pass around the information that (at this present moment) a recipe rank can be easily deduced by when the synth returns ~500 physical exp - nevermind how to apply that information to repair needs.

All in all, viable options, methinks, though I doubt they'll allow for trading damaged stuff anytime soon. Maybe, though, as long as you can't sell it.

Wow, ask and you shall receive, eh? Beat that announcement by like what, 2 hours? /blush - If only all my posts were so lucky! The option that eliminated the extra trading would still be nice - but hey, can't have it all.

Trading will no more be needed, because every crafter will have the necessary materials on him/her.

I tried getting similar discussions going about which aspects of which genres players preferred to see in this specific franchise, but it inevitably always degrades into a raging argument about the semantic definitions of sandbox and themepark. Pissed me right off; got nowhere. Maybe you'll have better luck with your's @.@

Agreed. At the time I was thinking about the grade overlaps between repairers and repairees, but who cares? 100% overlap not required. This sounds great.
