I wouldn't feel too bad about that one. I've hooked it about 15-20 times with a maxed out gathering stat and still have yet to successfully land it.

That's normal, I meant that the game mentionned the 'too low gathering' , which was gone when I ate food.

Ah, I was thinking something else (been fishing literally all day trying to find some of these, getting a bit tired lol). But yeah, I think the requirement for that one must be pretty high (I know at least 373 is enough, looking at the japanese website even 363 may be enough). Or I've just had horrible RNG. This new batch of big fish pretty much requires you to have the i70/75 rod and max melded gear. And food.
