How is it functionally impossible to gather them? Make time. You're not working 24 hours and 7 days a week. Final Fantasy XIV:ARR has had servers running for over 10 months now--you should have had enough time to level your disciple of lands to make this apparently impossible task possible. Furthermore, please note that you have forgotten the last part of the sentence which points out the benefit of having friends on the server. You can't gather stuff? Ask your friends too. I'm sure they have time.

Ill never understand how people can't earn money in this game... This is my first P2P MMORPG and before this I would spend 1-2 years on an F2P to become rich or anything close to being well funded.
Invest in crafts/gatherers (because more access to items), figure out the demands, sell and undercut. -repeat

Even with a bard and no DOH/L my friend manages to make 100k-300k in 2 days selling monster drops with just 1 hour of effort a day.
FFS... I was making 200k a day with a lvl 30 weaver,crafting HQ lvl 1-11 items...
Maybe your board is broken but mine is a god sent present from heaven.

Just like IRL, its only a depression to those who choose not to get out and work for their money. Take up some DoH or DoL classes find what is selling, get it and start making money. No one is going to hand you 1 million Gil for sitting on your butt. You'll get out of this game what you put in. You don't want to put in, you won't get anything in return. There are no government hand outs in this game. Make something of yourself.

I know we cant compare the real world with the virtual world but the gil system is not working, at least for me it isn't or at Cactuar, cuz items that takes a whole day to do it costs 1gil and items that you can buy it from a store is sold for the same price as a house(and these r items with a heart so u see how ppl are taking advantage of "supply and demand") , I know its getting worse cuz in the beginning I would make money by just being a Goldsmith and making accessories but now everyone is basically a Goldsmith making their own items selling for thousands of gils, they are not selling them cuz when you look at the last item that was bought it was weeks ago, so they put 100Gil to sell it fast, everyone comes in and puts 50gil,30gil,2gil. but w.e I asked you guys what you thought about the board, you guys said it was fine so let me make money by killing enemies and getting 8gils per kill cuz ill totally become the bill gates of the Cactuar world like that, better start now lol

I think you misunderstand here. From your statement, the "gil system" is working fine, it's the community that is causing the issue. Also, you need to pay attention to what is actually popular, the heart system says the most sold, not the most needed. By need, think about what is going on, what is the big trend right now? gardening. While you aren't going to be making gil hand over fist easily, you need to play that market board, sell materials they need to craft, hell, best gil I've made lately is to buy the fishmeal from the housing vendor, turn around and sell it on the market board, demand causes the price to peak. Also, don't look at the "current" price, that wont get you anywhere, look at the average for how often the item is sold and see the average of the last say...five or ten buys. Oh also, you CAN make gil by killing things, any of the later dungeons (and even some of the earlier ones) give you gil per enemy killed to help cover repair costs and then some. The higher the dungeon, the more gil per kill and the lower your repair bill.

It was a joke. He was being silly
