First thing first, let's just get this out of the way, again, since you guys seemed to have skipped this line. I don't care if teleports are in this game or not. It really doesn't bother me either way. My point wasn't aimed at teleporting.

It was aimed at the "If you don't like it, don't use it. You're not forced to."

People who want to teleport can, people who don't aren't forced to. It's called choice. If they suddenly remove or restrict teleports they're removing choice for no real reason other than an arbitrary timesink. Yes, when presented with a choice people generally seek the path of least resistance, but that's also just an excuse people like to use to hide their own weak will. Kind of like people who try to sue McDonald's for "making them fat". If you aren't exploring it's because you don't want to, teleports have nothing to do with it. Being forced to take the scenic route every single time won't make it any more enjoyable, it will actually make you resent it.

Likening teleportation to getting an instant level 50 class is also a poor comparison. Between leveling a character and traveling, only one of them is actual content (hint: it isn't traveling). And don't get my wrong, I like to explore new zones. But after I see everything a particular zone has to offer I want to get through it as quickly as possible on subsequent visits so I can actually spend time on the content I enjoy.
Again, this isn't about teleportation. This is about the point you just made. It's not a poor comparison, because this argument has been made for almost any sort of change design that is in a game, over multiple games. Not just about teleportation, not just about instant lvl 50's, not just about flying mounts. So much more. Once you start seeing this response in every damn discussion, about every damn change, you start to realise that the people who make the argument actually hasn't thought about it and are only in for their own gains. Not about how it affects the game.

So you are comparing teleports to a free lv50 job ticket? Using your line of tought, why not make a button that insta kills Twintania? Why not one for finishing T9 and getting the drop for the class you are using?

Btw, you can ask everything you want, it not necessarily means its a good service and that yoshi is gonna listen to it. Progressing from lv1 to lv50 lets u learn how to play the game, to progress in the story, how you came from zero to hero....

Some people like teleporting, some people like walking. What's the sure way to please both? Having teleports, so you can either walk or teleport. Taking away teleporting will only make one of the sides upset about it.
Firstly, read at the top. It's not about the comparison. Read the above statement and you'll see.

As for progressing to 50 instantly, who are you to say that I'm not allowed to? You harp on about how you should be able to play the game as you want to and others don't have to use that service, yet you want to limit others choices. If I want to get an instant lvl 50, what is it to you? What if I was confident in my ability to play a class and just wanted to hit 50 to skip all the leveling? You don't have to use the service just because I am. That was your original argument wasn't it?

And who are you to say what is good for the game. If the developers turned around and changed a part of the game you liked, could you then say that it was wrong and your choice was the good of the game?

Please note: I don't mind you having an opinion. Not sure about anyone else, but I prefer it when people have opinions. But actually have an argument instead of saying "You don't have to use it, it is a choice." That shows that you haven't thought about it at all.

It's not a stupid argument. When I have time on weekends I will use my mounts and I will run to city states or camps rather than teleporting, as I have time and I rather like the aesthetics of the open world. When I have less time I opt for convinience. What is stupid is to tarnish an entire gaming population with one brush. Brayflox was for a time the most efficient myth farming but I know plenty of people who didn't do it (including myself) because they CHOSE not to.
Again, re-read my paragraph. I didn't say everyone was the same, I said that the majority would be doing so. Just because you and a tiny percentage didn't use it, doesn't mean that the majority doesn't. The majority of the gaming community will use the most efficient way. Anyone who has played MMOs for a decent amount of time, would have seen this.

Let's look at hunts. Hunts, currently, are amazing for gaining resources easily that would otherwise take a lot longer to do. I know of a few percentage that don't do them, because they don't like them.

But, you can see a whole LOAD more people that do them, despite disliking them, to gain these resources much easier.

@ topic creator and everyone that thumbs up his post: WTF is wrong with you people and yes i said YOU PEOPLE! I can only see it as "YOU PEOPLE" that would be crazy enough to make the mundane even MORE mundane. Can't do anything because of massive backtracking is just S T U P I D. Do you even think to realize how many people would probably unsubscribe do to that?? You don't care though, you only care about your lil fantasy land roleplay. I got a perfect solution....how about NO first...then how about YOU spend 3 hours going back and forth for leve quests, side quests, and market board visits. Go ahead...knock yourself out! (do us all a favor)

Bring back the animus system. Paying for teleports in a world full of millionaires just doesnt work. Free teleports for everyone doesn't work for the Hunt system either.

It is a sad, sad thing on this forum that I can only like a post but one time.

OP & their ilk better never use 'ports. Ever. If they do they are hypocrites.

Next they'll start a post that there should be an All Server-wide, All Worlds-wide complete reset. Legacy included. Restart everyone at back to level 1 on all classes to level out the playing field. You know, just 'cuz.

I agree 100%. Teleports are boring and without them, we would appreciate more of the world and have a sense of adventure.

I hope that the new areas in the expantion don't have aetherythes everywhere.

Is this thread a troll posing as a legendary troll to troll people into trolling each other?
    Because, if so, damn.

    Trollception.
That said, I haven't seen Rokien, and I have my doubts as to whether or not this is his brain ptoot or someone is just riding Rokien's Tanaka-embroidered coat tails.

It's saying something when even XI added in tons of waypoint warps to alleive some of the arbitrary trip locations.

There are plenty of walking simulator games on the market. Some are even... designed around exploration!

It's 2014 and this is a modern day MMO. The dev team designed this system for the convenience of players, so get used to it. Would I like some bigger areas? Heck yeah. After initial exploration do I want there to be long treks from then on out? No thanks. I'm playing an MMO and I only have so much free time. I'll take what conveniences are offered.

Frontlines happen on the Carteneau Flats in Mor Dhona, ground zero of the Calamity and an area that is presently inaccessible to adventurers except via airship. Not a random area that can't be seen.

Guildhests, as I said before and you failed to read, take place in an instanced section of the open world. Not a random area that can't be seen.

Again, if you played the game you would know these things.

This is why people call you a troll, Rokien. >.>

How ANYONE could suggest having to BE at the dungeon one wishes to partake in is entirely beyond me. Yesterday I was in queue for Frontlines, Garuda EX, Wolves' Den, CT, and some other one for SIX HOURS. Because nobody apparently was doing those on Primal during that time. Now you want me to have to BE at those dungeons, one at a time? You're insane, the answer is NO. Also, NO to anima; as a matter of fact, Return didn't even use to have a limit on it, so negate that and the "damage=cancel" while you're at it. On the other hand, in order to alleviate Hunt conditions, I -would- be okay with needing a crafted/gathered/GC item to teleport, but it would need to be available to every craft/gather profession. At least then you could slow the chaos down without jarring the game to a halt. Plus, for everyone on the "main cities only or touch the aetheryte first" train, you set your HomePoints at aetherytes. -NO- to removing that option, tyvm.
