Well, if WoW can eliminate flying mounts for the next expansion because they realized that it trivialized content, I don't see why Yoshi couldn't limit the teleport, it could even be tied to the lore and some events in-game.
To anyone that wishes to run around everywhere you go, I urge you to either play Dragon's Dogma or watch LPs of it. That game is a great example of what happens when you limit transportation: repetitive, boring backtracking. FFXIV will become stale enough where riding a chocobo from your town to the nearest beastmen will become a chore. I believe the better solution is to give more scenic choices, like expanding on chocobo ports, but giving more limited access to other exclusive transportation devices.
Lack of self-control is no reason to force restrictions onto everyone else. "If you don't like it, don't use it" is a perfectly valid response to these kinds of overreaching demands. People who want to teleport can, people who don't aren't forced to. It's called choice. If they suddenly remove or restrict teleports they're removing choice for no real reason other than an arbitrary timesink. Yes, when presented with a choice people generally seek the path of least resistance, but that's also just an excuse people like to use to hide their own weak will. Kind of like people who try to sue McDonald's for "making them fat". If you aren't exploring it's because you don't want to, teleports have nothing to do with it. Being forced to take the scenic route every single time won't make it any more enjoyable, it will actually make you resent it.
Likening teleportation to getting an instant level 50 class is also a poor comparison. Between leveling a character and traveling, only one of them is actual content (hint: it isn't traveling). And don't get my wrong, I like to explore new zones. But after I see everything a particular zone has to offer I want to get through it as quickly as possible on subsequent visits so I can actually spend time on the content I enjoy.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
"So you have no frame of reference here, Donny. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know..." --Walter Sobchak
When will you stop, Rokien? You have been beating the dead horse of "TELEPORTATION BAAAD!" since the early days of 1.0, and it's the same conversation every...single...time...
You don't play the game anymore. Why can you not move on?
The world feels small because the world IS small. Don't take away teleport just make the world huge! plz?![]()
All they need to do is make more Airships and Summoing Stones for Raids/Dungeons. That's how WoW did it for a long time and honestly, it was way better than this system. They could also increase the speed of Mounts as atm they are agonisingly slow.
The Fast Travel in this game is just ridiculously over used and it does ruin the immersion in the world which really, is what you should play an MMO for.
Would you kindly refrain from telling people what their reasons for doing something "should" be? This is almost as bad as the OP trying to change a game he quit playing for people who still play it.
If I wanted to play an Adventure Game, it surely would not be an MMO, but an ACTUAL 2D point-and-click adventure like Monkey Island, or Deponia. Y'know, like the old times.
Stop trying to make the world 'more dangerous' in your opinions. Once it happens you'll all start to hate it anyway. Just look at Hunts, same thing happened there. Don't give people exactly what they want, Square, please.
Wouldn't mind limiting teleports again by the use of the anima currency (or whatever it was called in 1.0)
In exchange they should link the chocobo porters better, it's annoying that I have to switch two or three times to get anywhere.
But I don't really see what would be gained from forcing everybody to ride everywhere.
I explored every zone in depth when I quested there, I explored them again while hunting atmas, again when I go and gather mats, again when I do hunts.
For my part I must say that I explore more than enough, what would I gain by riding along the same roads again and again to get from settlement A to settlement B?
- Roads are usually safe, no monsters around and most wouldn't attack a lvl 50 char anyway.
- Chatting while riding? Nope
- Immersion? Yes, the loading screens between zones are so realistic... (sarcasmn)
The OP is replying in that thread asking about Rokien, basically proves its not him. Thank god.
Or it is him and hes that egotistical to talk about himself on a fake account. Jesus christ.
