I'm glad to hear housing is in the planning stages. Let us set up our retainers in them so we can show off our pads while we sell stuff.

I know a lot of people want moogles involved in housing but I'm of the opposite opinion. They already have an important role as the servants of the elementals in the Black Shroud. Let's preserve their lore and role in the Eorzean story.

Cant wait for actual housing so i can put my carpentry grinding to use; whole reason i focused CRP was to make furniture for either my house or LS house.

As for the moggle vs retainer for house organizational purposes, i am all for indentured servitude from a hyur .

I would like player housing where we can see our retainers. But break it up into 3-4 rooms. Instead of just 1 (if possible) Pretty much have a large room where we can have players come in and enjoy. And have a room for our retainers (but they move around and appear to talk to each other) And the other room or two rooms would be storage similar to mog hou storage and locker storage. But have the room(s) have boxes/chests. This way we can freely decorate with our sacrificing hoursing storage. I would also like it to be similar to mabinogi where we physically see our houses in a resident area. So we can decorate the outside also.

Our retainers would take place of the mogs since moogles are in gridania and not like how they are in ffxi.

if you never played ffxi you wouldn't get it >.>

Also on sunject of having a physical house. I know a few mmo with such stuff

Age of conan has player towns
mabinogi has a player housing zone where you see player houses, they are also used as a shop
Aion was gonna have housing (if they added it or not idk) and you can pick what you want it to look like.

If anyone played "The Sims" you would get it. All you have to do is select the furniture then place it on the grid. It is not all that hard to do.

Well in the virtual world moving furniture around isn't nearly as strenuous. >.> The point of owning your own place would be to have a place of your own to hang out that you could customize to your liking. Having such things gives the player more to do, more to collect, more to customize. If you don't like the house or see the point then you don't have to mess with it, those of us that do enjoy such things however would love to see this implemented.

Canyon cliffside or by an oasis in Thanalan! Atop the trees or by a lake in the Black Shroud! The ideas are endless guys.

    2. Interior and Exterior decoration. Obviously with a house comes customization. Please allow use to decorate the inside with various furniture, wallpapers and carpets as well as the outside with statues, fountains and exterior house customization.

    3. Housing Expansion. Allow us to not only customize but expand our dwelling. Give us long quests and crazy requirements to get bigger and better houses over time. This makes not only getting the house an accomplishment but expanding it as well.

    4. Allow other players to visit. What's the point of having a cool place of your own if no one else can see it? Allow us to bring anyone in our party with us to our houses. That would be the most simple way to do it while keeping restrictions in my opinion.
Nailed it! I want my house to be instanced like mog houses in xi but expandable and fully decorative like in a few small no name games I have played.

Somehow work it into the storyline so that moogles are less rare and have one tend to my house, manage my mail and retainers.

If the housing will be istanced, i would love if every house will have a balcony: if you are in limsa you'll have it with an ocean view (you can also see some ships passing on the horizon and seagulls in the sky), in gridania over the forest (with birds flying around and sunlight that filters throught the tree fronds) and in uldah with a desert view (with the typical warm-effect during the day.. with some random mirages onthe horizons lol). On this balcony you could put some gardening stuff as well.

Btw, here is another interesting topic about it: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...hlight=Housing

    Balconies would be lovely.

As many people before me have mentioned, I would also love to see the ability to buy or quest extra additions to your house. Perhaps themed rooms (like a mount stable or crafting room).
My dream would be an instanced house wherein you may invite friends into. How big or many rooms is an extension of your player status. With playstion Home style furnishings made obtainable by participating in events and quests in game.
    Some other furnishing crafted too.

I don't know if its techincally feasible or not, but would be nice if you could purchase new skins for walls/flooring so you can theme a barren room to your specific tastes. Such as placing a tatami mat floor if you're feeling traditional, or dungeon walls if you're in a dark mood.

I just really don't want to be crammed into a studio basement apartment as I was in Bastok back in the day.
    After saving the world a few times over the course of the game, my character should at least have earned something resembling a house. ^^;

Actually I usually move stuff around in my house once every couple of months for a change of scenery (just finished moving stuff last week actually lol)

I would like to see permanent housing ONLY if they redid the zones (I have a feeling it would be waaay too crowded with housing on some of the terrains out there) Something interesting would be to increase the size of some of those 'Hamlets' and let us put our housing there, if we should choose, but don't limit it to the hamlets if you want to live in the city you could live in the house district (similar area as the Hamlets, maybe a little bigger where you can have permanent housing as well). Give bonuses for living in the wild vs living in the safety and convenience of a town (since you wouldn't have access to city stuff)

Some things for living in the Hamlet could be: Allow us to have a access to a personal Chocobo (since it would have more room to live in the Hamlets, and it's unsanitary to have a giant bird living inside a city!), Wilderness bonus, increase the yield for gathering, the list could go on, depending on where your house is in the world of Eorzea. But you can also be attacked! (Hamlet Defense, assuming they didn't scrap this).

Some things for living in the city: Protection from attack, ease of access (Leves, quests, Market Wards, etc all near you), more stuff could be added so long as there is a balance between the two styles of living.

Also, I would love Balconies and all kinds of accessories and additions, maybe have different style (exterior and interior differences depending on the location of your home)

    Anyways, my two additional cents.

Hahaha, well technology has come a long way. There is a lot you can do with an instance these days. You can even alter the appearence of the Market Wards in FFXIV (by choosing different skins and colours for the market stands), so it's perfectly within the realm of possibility for SE to make it happen with instanced-housing. It all just depends on if they feel like it or not.

Star Wars Galaxies (I never played it) allegedly had one of the most progressive housing systems. You could build housings and buildings anywhere, and anyone could enter houses. The houses were miniature instances, and when you entered a house, you loaded in all the belongings within that house.

This game was released like ten years ago or something, and it closed down just recently. So if SE are smart they should try and buy the source code!
