    TBH, I find gear being obsolete every three months kinda shit and introduces power creep. Just compare HP/MP numbers from 2.0 to 2.3. More horizontal progression would be nice instead of just a stupid gear treadmill that's the same old. After a certain point the numbers don't even mean anything anymore (see WoW).

    I completely agree, the treadmill of lockouts and RNG to get new gear every patch, only enjoying the accomplishment of a full set momentarily before a new ilvl is introduced gets old. I would honestly like them to step it back for a while and just let us Level up as well, like from maybe 50 to 60. All these level 50 quests that reward exp, feels like an inside joke from SE -_-

    I can apreciate the difference in time spent, not in effort
    and it's not like ST drop 100% of the time 8sands and you can run it as many time as you want
    and if you're lucky you go out you kill 3mobs you get 3log=1sand.

    Well with FFXIV so far anyway they are keeping it under control (2-3 points per 10 tier) Where WoW went wrong was....

    Original: HP of a dps 5-7k
    1st Expansion: 20k
    2nd Expansion: 100k
    3rd expansion: 200k
    4th expansion: 1st tier = 400k; last tier = 750k

    They went completely stupid with their numbers. (I stopped at the 1st expansion because of this.. the numbers for 2nd-4th are from word of mouth/quick googles)

    They do need to stop the freaking 6 month resets though. "Hey guys that 2.0 content we spend over a year developing? Were going to make it totally worthless now!". Group gear being superior to the previous tier of raiding is a issue. Really should be sitting at.

    ilvl 70 = group
    ilvl 80 = CT1
    ilvl 90 = CT2
    ilvl 100 = Coil1
    ilvl 110 = Coil2

    Primals scattered through

    Why? Because there would be DOUBLE the content there is right now Instead of every patch cycle resetting it back to 4 events.

    Gear gets "obsolete" every 6 months actually and myth gear is still widely used for anyone that plays more than one job, my understanding is i90 gear is perfectly fine for a lot of Second Coil anyway. I expect the jump in gear in the future to be a gentler slope like 2.2 compared to going level 50 to iL90 at launch.

    They need to make more freaking odd-leveled gear though. Level 95 or 105 gear to give us more options would have been neat.

    It'll probably be i120 by the time the expansion hits.

    With any luck, you'll need at least i100 to even reach the new level cap, but the old gear should remain usable the whole way through. That way, the 50-60 climb for a new player in 3.0 still has the same gear progression as 2.x, with them ideally sitting at around i110 after reaching the new cap, ready for the next tier of gear progression.

    Of course that's assuming that SE doesn't introduce horizontal progression, which would be great if they did. I'm just not betting on it.
