May be switching rewards, high myth quantities, sands, oils and alex to dungeons and crafting mats to hunts.
But lets face it, dungeons work fine, hunts are broken, and the main reason behind the slow death the DF is suffering is the broken reward-difficulty relation of the hunt system.
Gets worse when the item you want is on a ranged class. My queue is 20 minutes or more. Want that caster robe to go with my healer robe. Been trying since the patch released.
They should reduce the Company Seal price of crafting mats to 1500-ish (which it was in the preliminary 2.2 notes) and remove them from the drop tables of the boss coffers. Instead, add an additional coffer for the last boss that contains 3 random crafting materials. That circumvents bots position hacking to chests. There's probably some other issues but I can't think of them at the moment.

BTW: Crafting material SHOULD NOT be tied to DoW/M. This is why we have close to zero demand on iL70 crafted weapons/gears, when DoM/W can outfit at least one job to iL90 in a weekend, while iL70 items are forced to sell for 100K+ due to low dungeon loots.

I cap tomes on Frontline and have fun doing it. Dungeons bore me to tears.
Crafting mats are why people are not doing dungeons? Not the fact that everyone is capped in a few hours from doing hunts? The vast majority of people doing high lvl dungeons did them for the tomes, not vanity. This "issue" is being way overblown.
Something between 20-30 Expert runs since patch:
8 Divine Harvest pieces won
1 Divine War
5 Divine Light
2 Divine Hero
Still no run with only crafting mats dropped
Lost lots on all Divine Death and Divine Wisdom pieces that dropped, passed on items I already had, and lost lots on War/Light/Hero I couldn't Need.
I run dungeons for 1) Alexandrite map 2) Tomes to buy said map 3) Gear 4) Crafting mats
I do hunts as well when I'm in the mood for that
I wouldn't mind mats if it was just valuable ones. Cooking sherry and such should not even be on the drop table. They could maybe stand to up the gear drop rate a little, but that's secondary to taking out the useless drops.
