This might fly for WHM, but if you do this as SCH that's really terrible healing. SCH's focus is reducing incoming damage, and they rely very heavily on fairy/WHM to heal crowds. Good healing requires that you trust your co-healer to handle some tasks while you do others, ex: if you pretend your WHM isn't there and spam Succor to heal party damage, you've just wasted a ton of MP, cast time, and shielding that the WHM could handle with a single medica II. Meanwhile your tank is receiving a lot more sustained damage because you only have succor shield on him instead of Adlo, or sacred soil, or eye for eye, or... shall I go on?

Regarding the topic, unfortunately there is no such thing as a metric to judge a healer's ability on, since the #1 most important skill for good healing is adaptability. Knowing when and what to heal, how to use your utility spells, when or even IF you should DPS, (some healers insist on DPSing during any healing downtime and then end up low on mana for the subsequent heavy damage) how and when to Raise and recover from fight setbacks, etc etc. I'd say the best way to determine if a healer is 'good' is to see if they can revive an attempt after some DPS get wasted by telegraphs, but you can't do that deliberately or you'll be holding the party back yourself. You can't judge someone's reactiveness and adaptability with any kind of parsed data; it's just something you 'get a feel for.'

Im still leveling in small groups of 4, and the queued missions have been great and profitable. I play as a healer, I have a mass healing and single person heal power atm. I also begin the missions with adding a protection spell to everyone. I focus on the tank, when his health begins to go down I cast heal, but have also kept others up on theirs should they get attacked. People have died under my watch by one shot kills (blast zones) I couldnt help that, but I can revive them once the fight is over. I dont attack even if the enemys are after me, i focus on heals. Ive had up to 4 enemys on me at once and kept us all alive like this. If there is more you can suggest since im new to this, I would appreciate it as I may be a healer for your group some day. :3

My apologies to the group I had to abandon. I thought I had enough time for one more run before I had to leave, but the Tank was new to the game and it was nearing 45-50 minutes into it and we had only beaten the first boss, that cat thing with the tentacles. If I had more time I would have stayed.

This cat offers that team a flower to make up for it. :3

As it's been said a hundred times already, there's no stat based metric to track healing.

I play a Scholar and I'm currently leveling a WHM just to try it out. The biggest obstacle so far is finding people who know how to dodge skills with 4-day cast times. I know it can sometimes be difficult but even as a BLM, it's not hard to dodge. After a certain point, you just realize that certain people aren't making up the MP cost to heal. DPS who barely dodge, if ever, and eat up half of your heals aren't cost efficient. I'm the healer who purposely lets people die when they don't show the ability to cover their own asses. Unavoidable AoEs are one thing, being completely blind and eating 10 Titan EX AoEs are another. Some people are better left face down.

However, this is why a lot of people run with statics instead of pugs. Personally, I prefer pugs for the entertainment factor.

Im kinda forced to go with pug groups, finding team mates is near impossible for me, 99.9% of people ive come across wont even talk or respond. =U.U=
