I actually find that Roeg to be rather FABULOUS.

I have to say that style actually is a big part of why I've played Japanese MMOs over Western/Korean MMOs. Maybe it's their reserved approach to equipment over how the others do it (as is beautifully illustrated in this thread). My biggest complaint is how it's not total equipment equality. In 1.# and even in 2.# I refuse to wear the White Mage culottes. In 1.# I had materia'd some pants (the culottes were replaceable anyway so no loss) and with glamour I have them 'replaced' with a spring skirt (and yes, I know what's under the spring skirt, unlike alot of robes it goes down to the feet so I don't mind). But sometimes when Square releases gender specific attire I get a little jealous at the male outfits. Like Snow's coat... T,T
To be honest I myself don't mind how it is. I see enough changes in both armors to tell which one is male and which one is female. I'd honestly perfer having the male Dragoon look over female though. I love having a giant gaping hole where my stomach is so people can see my bellybutton. >.> Also that picture is the funniest thing I've seen all morning. Just.. that Roe is standing there with that face is hilarious, I can't stop laughing. XD

My opinion is that armour for female characters can look sexy and functional. Nothing wrong with both. But if I can only have one. I want functional. (My propensity for replacing the trousers on my PLD with a glamoured skirt notwithstanding. The rest of her armour is perfectly fine.) Also, sexy doesn't have to mean "shows more skin than clothing" My Scholar is wearing the CT1 robe and her myth skirt and boots and she looks sexy IMO. Though cloth-wearing classes generally don't have the same issues as armoured ones.
I don't have an opinion on male gear, because I never play male characters anymore.
Lastly - Add more impractical, sexy and/or silly items as glamour. The people who want them will get them (well, assuming you don't hide them behind 3 star crafting walls), the people who don't won't. Case in point. I don't like Scylla's gear, I think it looks dumb on any character. If others like it and want to wear and show it off, fine with me.
The way I see it is they release gear in rotations. They release a set of badass looking gear and then a set of flamboyant gear. People have widely varying tastes and if they only released badass looking gear, such as what the vast majority of gear in Tera and Aion looks like, then there would be a group of people who never truly liked what their character looked like.
Personally I'm some what in the middle. I really like the badass looking gear, but I appreciate the flamboyant gear and with glamours I will occasionally run around with it for a day or so.
From reading your post, it looks more like you're worried that women are "forced" into certain clothing. At the same time, men are "forced" to wear certain gear too if we look at OP's examples. It comes of rather feministically while for men the same situation is going on in OP's example, except you did not mention it one time. There are some pieces of gear that are gender-varied/gender-locked (Coliseum gear, swimsuits, and dresses come to mind), but for the most part, the way it is now, I like the fact that those pieces of gear aren't commonplace. I had a good friend when I was on Cactaur back in 2.0 who plays a Paladin. When I first saw her in full AF2, I thought she looked absolutely badass, and AF2 gear didn't have a different gender model for females. It just seemed so much better to see than something that showed off a bunch of cleavage or leg.
As for your examples, if you notice, every female set of armor is a lot more form-fitting than the male armor and, in most of them, there is a LOT more skin showing. I mean, why should a woman be forced to wear a different style of armor if they don't want to?
You talk about "force", yet this Roegadyn male is forced to wear a dress unless he wants to glamour to old gear used over and over again, but I guess you think that's just fine.
On topic.
Great great examples OP! Love it. I remember all those "I want my male to be able to wear a dress" topics. Seems like a bunch of people would like that. For their sake the glamour system should be free for all but atleast give us a choice when new gear gets implemented.
Again, this Roegadyn can glamour to something else. Sometimes you just want something new instead of glamouring to a design that has been seen and used over and over again. This leeds to another subject: why does SE keep re-using gear designs? Even going as far as cross-job gear design. Let's hope it's not because of choosing the easy route.

Personally, I think this looks badass, while still having a bit of a feminine look.
They nailed the new tank armor from the expert dungeons.
I did glamour the skirt in, but thats it. I want to get the Elite Storm skirt eventually, its a tad longer.

Yes, this tank armor (FINALLY) looks so good. Unfortunately I don't really like it when every other tank uses the glamour too. I look to see different stuff.
I see more tanks with the Noct Lorica dyed than the Divine War set, but thats probably because its just as "new".
