Yep, because Limsa and Uldah were built on the best of ethics and have nothing but upstanding citizens - They also don't have a 'bully' guild in Uldah or Pirates running around everywhere either.

Actually it's stated in the 2.0 storyline that Limsa has put the kibosh on pirating, and outside of a few groups that deal in smuggling and under the table operations, piracy is deader than a door nail. As for Ul'dah, if you're referring to the Platinum Mirage, they're a bank(more like loansharks). They don't go out of their way to "bully" people(outside of the usual disdain the Ul'dans have for the less fortunate) unless said people owe 'em some scratch.

At any rate, thank the Christ child this dumb debacle has been cleared up.

Yeah seriously SE, just make Thief a job alongside Ninja, and Rogue the class. Jobs don't have guilds, they have questlines. I don't see the conflict.

All this crying about the word Thief, it's really quite amusing. Yoshi's given his reasons why you are not getting THIEF. Deal with it, it's not changing. The Rogue guild formed from thieves, so what's the big deal. It's the SAME THING, only the word is Rogue instead of Thief. I mean, jesus, I understand Thief is traditional for Final Fantasy but that IS what Rogue is. The lore is what it is and it's not going to change, and in all honesty it makes freaking sense.

I'd say you'd be safe up until the 35-40 range before people start wondering why you don't have your Job abilities that will be helping you be better. If I get in a party at 40+ while I level my Paladin and Warrior and see that one or both of my dps are gimping themselves, and ultimately the party, I will not be happy. I might stick with the party if they can still manage to dps well enough, but I'm of the mind that you should switch at 30 to get used to your new skills and learn how they work in dungeon groups. So that when you reach level 50 you know how to play your dps Job well.

People are responding to show they don't like the decision. No decision is set in stone. It's possible people will change their minds. Do you just go "okay" and accept every decision anyone makes in life, even if you don't care for it? Do you never try to explain to someone why you disagree? Especially considering his argument of "No one wants a thieves guild in their city" is rather moot since almost all the jobs don't have a set guild and most are some form of lost knowledge and skill.

So if you see Rogue in game, just in your mind, replace it with Thief. The class and the job and the way it works is really close to Thief, so just think of it as that. Thief won’t be coming as a name." I feel that's pretty damned final. Complain all you want, it won't change that.

No decision in game design is final. Every single MMO I have ever played has backpedaled on some major design aspect or another. So I will continue to express my opinion that I want to see a Thief job. And it fits in quite easily with the lore. The people saying otherwise just don't want to admit it (Game leadership included). Black magic, for instance? A lost, forbidden art. No one wants it in their city, yet we can get the job. If rogues developed from Thieves that means there could be some lost specialized knowledge that can be turned into job skills. There are ways it can easily be fit into the lore of the game. There's nothing in the lore that says "No one steals anything. No one can ever be a thief."

MMOs change and evolve though - well, while true they all want to mimic WoW to the ends of azeroth and back, nothing is ever truly final.
