Either make some friends who can craft things for you, or suck it up and pay strangers for their time. Why should I have to tip someone for using my own materials? Infact, why should I have to tip someone at all? A tip should be an act of gratitude, not a form of payment for your services. They could've easily just have not offered at all, and saved the four precious seconds of their life and the 15 gil repair cost, (assuming it was already at 100%).
It's like when you order pizza and they charge you a delivery fee. As far as I'm concerned, the delivery fee is the tip. They shouldn't charge me a flat fee for something then expect extra on top of it.
If someone asks for a meld, and you step up, your doing it out of kindness. If they tip you for it, then that is kindness in return. When you demand payment, that's not kindness, that then becomes business. And you know what? If you really want a tip, then fine, here's 50 gil for the stupid repair cost.
And honestly, most players with multiple lv 50 crafters hardly need a tip. Most high level craters are sitting on 1mil gil or better.
This sorta reminds me of this one guy who was willing to craft me a i90 DRG Chest piece using MY MATS and MATERIA, and he wanted a 250K tip for it. If anything, that tip is to prevent him from walking away with my mats and being a thief. >.>

Happy to see somebody taking Reservoir Dogs to heart. /sarcasmIt's like when you order pizza and they charge you a delivery fee. As far as I'm concerned, the delivery fee is the tip. They shouldn't charge me a flat fee for something then expect extra on top of it.

I really don't get the sense of entitlement from people who say things like this. So, you think the crafter leveled most crafts to level 50, full melding her gear (about 2m + 1.5m per class), and got through the Artisan grind (which also costs about a 1m per class as well as many hours of crafting) just so she could spend her time crafting stuff for you for free since you took ten seconds to buy some mats off the MB? If crafting is so easy that crafters shouldn't be paid for their time (and time is the biggest cost to a crafter, not mat prices which they can factor into the price), why aren't you doing it yourself? Not to mention, there is no 100% rotation for three star (i90) crafts. If he failed to HQ the synth, would you expect him to replace your mats and try again?

Hoo boy, this comment affects me personally. In the case of pizza deliveries, that delivery charge never makes it to the driver 90% of the time. Most often, they are using their personal vehicles and pay out of their own pocket for gas to bring you your pie.
I deliver chinese food and this is the case for me. I also get paid nearly half of minimum wage because I'm considered tip-wage.
The high cost of gas and maintenance to keep the car running add up very quickly. We depend entirely on tips to survive.
The more people that think like you, the less likely I'm able to pay my rent this month. Please reconsider your stance on tipping.

^ this. Common courtesy says to tip 20%, but I always give 50%. Unless the service was really shitty, i.e. X will arrive in Y minutes, X arrives in Z minutes instead (maybe half an hour later than Y) or the waiter/server/host(ess) was a rate dick.

Not sure if trolling or genuine...
I'm not sure if you understand the definition of "tip-wage." It means that if I don't receive a tip, I don't earn a wage. So yes, I expect a tip from every single person, and yes, I get desperately angry when stiffed by someone who genuinely believes it's perfectly okay to metaphorically siphon gas from my tank.
And get a better job or suck it up? How about this. Stop ordering delivery and go pick it up yourself. If you refuse to get it yourself and put wear and tear on your own vehicle, you openly admit that you just want to take advantage of honest, hard working people. Someone has to do it, don't take advantage of that someone. Take responsibility for your convictions.
