Do you really know why same-sex marriage wasn't allowed in FFXI? It's probably the exact same thing holding it back from FFXIV, which is to say the Japanese aren't entirely cool with the idea(more like they find it outrageous), and being that FFXIV is a Japanese game, well there you go.

Very good point. Allow me to retort.

More games are allowing same sex relations (Fable, Fallout, Mass Effect) than there used to be. Yes, those are western games, but FFXIV is being designed to appeal to western sensibilities. Will FFXIV be one of those games that is opening up to same sex relations, or will it fall back on hetero marriages only in the name of "playing it safe"? I don't know. That's why I made this topic.

It's kind of amazing that they are trying to bring people from all walks of life together to play on the same servers, but they aren't allowing them to really be themselves or just have fun with same sex marriage. I think they should just look at it as player 1 is married to player 2 regardless of gender if they do decide to implement a marriage system to FFXIV.

At the same time, no one (this isn't American thought) has the right to cause disorder in a society that would negatively affect it. What I mean by that is, even if it wouldn't be a big deal in your world, if it pulls down society at large, it should be done without.

Iran is currently in the works of outlawing dog ownership in the entire country because it promotes vulgar western practices.... do you really think their people shouldnt AT LEAST stand up for their right to own a dog and walk it down the street? this, in my opinion, is reason enough to rise above your government.
Human rights are violated throughout this world and that is reason enough for each person to rise above their government and fix it. its how things change man..... >.>
