I'm not against having some kind of in-game marriage system for the RPers, but for God's sake it needs to be absolutely bottom on not even the priority list, but the "would be nice" list.

If they won't add same sex marriages I'd rather they add no marriages. There's already way too many pre-pubescent kids playing who are anti gay without encouraging it with that kind of inequality.

Xenor, I don't think a game would change people's minds, My father brought me up to be if you say anti-gay and his father did the same. And i'll bring my kids up the same way, Its just the way my family is. I'm not gonna post anymore becuase i dont wanna upset people.

On topic, obviously i'm against it.

Irrelevant. Sorry. If kids are getting or even reinforcing their values from an online game then:
    1. Parents are total failures.
    2. Little hope they'd probably ever change at that point (IMO) anyway.

Let's stop pandering to the LCD of society, shall we? If we're considering a decision, said decision should not be made based upon how a group of backwards morons might react, but rather by looking at the bigger picture. This is why pop-tarts have warning labels, people.

Should XIV have same-sex marriages? That is up to SE and SE alone. This is not a RL city/state/country we're talking about here. It's private property run by a company. They can do whatever they want.

I'm all for same sex marriage, I agree with Xenor, yes you may not change people's minds but you don't want to show them they're right, because they are not. I always wondered why same-sex wasn't allowed in XI, let's hope it was just a 'sign of the times' and we can move on from that!

I say yes, but only if we're allowed to consummate those marriages. I want to have Lalafell/Miqo'te babies.

I couldn't agree less. Yes people should be guided properly by their parents and no one is asking SE to be anyone's moral compass.

At the same time, think about it this way.

Any game that allows marriage but not same sex marriage should also be boycotted on the same grounds. Its as simple as that. I have played through the awful and boring and I am optimistic for this games future but I won't play a game that is homophobic in nature and neither would any other self respecting person.

And no, I don't care what you think. If your homophobic you are not in anyway a self respecting person.

I am very much looking forward to marriage being added into the game, and I certainly hope that same sex and interracial marriage will be included. I may not be gay myself, but I'm lucky that my parents raised me to not discriminate against other people, and gays should have the same rights as anyone else. This is despite the fact that I found out after growing up that my father is anti-gay, and he still raised me right.
