I just don't see the point of begging for high level content, when the team is in the middle of revamping the combat system you would use to attack said high level content. Yes, they had a bad launch, now they are fixing it, but they need to fix it in order. In case you haven't noticed, people are able to drop high level goblins. This is not the ideal type of system you can put a challenging mob roaming around in. Once the battle system is in place, then we can have high level challenging content. And mind you, there are still complaints about the Mosshorn blockading areas around leves.

I mention that FFXI took a while before it launched its summons, a year. 7 months before even the HNMs, mind you, this was a good launch, where they could focus on content primarily.

Not exactly revolutionary or anything great.

So please SE, just implement a dragon, or a god, or some kind of "mega boss" that is really hard to kill. Make the game feel somewhat epic. And create an incentive for people to get gear and create top-tier +3 gear.

Its really not that difficult to do :x and it would make the game -significantly- better.
    Hi Azury,

If you look over the forums I think you'll find many people as frustrated as you, hoping for more incentive to play the game. I empathize with you on this.

Regarding your plea above (emphasis mine), to be fair SE *is* implementing an "Ifrit Boss Battle" of some sort in 1.19. The fact that they're calling it out, and making it a distinct line item in their table of items to deliver to us (via the Producer Letters) gives me hope that the Ifrit Boss Battle should be something potentially "epic" and more than a small deal. So that's something they're already working on and going to deliver this summer.

None of us know what the final boss (or potential secret bosses) of the Dzemael Darkhold are going to be. The cynical view is that the *1* trailer / preview video is all you're going to see in the Darkhold and there's nothing else to it. The optimistic view is that there's going to be more to the Darkhold than what they show in that preview.

It's been mentioned on the Grand Companies page that you can rise through their ranks and obtain powerful new equipment.

Company members will be assigned missions vital and diverse in nature, ranging from skirmishes with Garlean forces and savage beast tribes to supply replenishment and manufacturing...

Prove your worth by unfailingly completing the tasks assigned, and you will climb the ranks and be entrusted with missions of greater import and issued powerful equipment befitting your prowess.
I think that the Grand Companies System is something that will "create an incentive to get gear" like you asked as well.

There's no "dragon" (yet), but there are potentially a few "epic" creatures to fight, and there's an incentivized system also in the works (Grand Companies).

Now if you, instead, just want a Dragon ONLY, well, finalizing a new Core Combat System should absolutely come first. Why would they create a Nidhogg or Fafnir Dragon NM when they're finalizing what the new Final Fantasy Jobs and the Core Combat is going to be like? They'd want to balance the fight and make it challenging in light of the Jobs and New Combat, not based on our current system that's going to be replaced. It's wasted work to rush out a random Dragon right now, only to go back later and re-animate it (giving it new attacks) or re-balancing it.

Why they didn't put some extremely hard bosses into the game to keep people busy I have no idea. There isn't even an end-game progression system outside of guildmarks either (which offers such "exciting" rewards atm....)

Once ishgard opens up i have the feeling that were going to have more dragons to deal with then we can shake a stick, axe, sword, or chain gun at.

No one knows what Ifrit is as it changes it's "species" every game, but the one in XIV is eerily close to a dragon much like Pieste and Drakes are very dragon like. So we'll get our bosses soon and no, we don't need to fight a 'god' type of enemy in vanilla.

Unless that's the new trend of MMOs these days, throw everything in Vanilla.

Not sure if serious...and if serious might want to find a different game to play other than a fantasy MMORPG.

Got down to brass tacks with Yoshi-P and asked if there were any monsters that would be implemented into the raid dungeons that haven’t been seen before. He said that of course we will be implementing monsters never before seen in our instanced raids! We'll also be looking into implementing dragons!

    Bam!

I wonder if they'll be gold hoarding dragons or village burning dragons or princess eating dragons ... or maybe they'll be more eastern mystical good-guy dragons.

    So many possibilities!
