    Yea, I don't know what is with people's automatic dismissal of anything FFXI, other than its just cool to do if you didn't play it. But everything Tupsi mentioned is either a tiered popping system or a tiered instance system. Pretty much what folks are saying they thought or hoped Hunts would be. Maybe check your hive mind at the door and do some research on what someone is actually suggesting.

    Just how this community is, even when something works and can be refined to be even more of a great system, people are perfectly accepting of SE doing less for XIV.

    Exactly lol. Hence why I said they should have copied it, because XI did it properly to avoid messes like this later in its life. Sure you can argue drop rates but the fact it was more refined in comparison says a lot.

    Not trying to be offensive or anything but in truth, most people don't know how to design and balance MMOs properly. I prefer SE's current approach to designing ff14 which is to go slowly and not refine everything to a max degree. Refining everything then and there puts pressure on future designs and implementations.

    For example, look at daggers. Imagine if we had designed the paladins to have traits specifically evolved around daggers but because we wanted a new class, rogue/ninja, that would primarily use daggers and removed daggers from paladins so that rogues/ninjas could only use them, we would have totally botched up paladins and their game play designs. Even if we allowed both classes to use daggers that would make it unfair to many other classes and so now we start a huge cycle of fails. Or imagine if we had done 3-4 tiers worth of skills in paladins, around daggers, and then suddenly removed daggers from their class. Imagine how much reworking would be required.

    Because we don't know what future things SE intends to implement its more than likely, only SE, knows whats best.

    To be honest - Many MMOs prior to this and even WoW has done it before, that's the purpose of having multiple teams and why expansions normally come with large gameplay changes because anything major is usually thrown in with expansions or expansion like updates.

    Because we don't know what future things SE intends to implement its more than likely, only SE, knows whats best.
    Even with this, it's not like SE would throw in stuff then just forget about it if they have no plans to do more with it. Like in XI the only time they "forgot" about something is when players shown no interest in it, e.g Pankraton but later came out with an even better system - Monstrosity.

    I love it. It's competitive, gets people to socialize more, and adds much needed open world content. I suggest they get rid of the sand/oil from the vendor to eliminate most of the QQing related to the subject. Keep the sand/oil at the new Crystal Tower, Coils, obtainable via PvP currency, and maybe introduce a new weekly quest that rewards them. Or maybe have books be rewarded for taking on your weekly hunt and from S ranks.....after they change the way weekly hunts work >_>
