This thought did cross my mind just now, carcasses. It would be neat if maybe when a hunted mob died, a 1-2 min window opened to touch the sparkling spot where it died, this would grant the chance to obtain bait to use against instance hunts in the same area but unlike treasure maps and such, the bait would have a one use in x location variable so trying to figure out where to use the bait would be important.
This way though even those who miss hunts could at least have a chance to obtain a piece of the carcass and use it as bait to spawn a rare hunt.
Maybe something like B rank you need to obtain 4 carcass and then mend them together to make the bait, A rank would mend together 2 and S rank would just need 1 carcass but the drop rate would be low.
B rank carcass hunts would have A rank difficulty, A Rank S rank difficulty and S rank would have let's say an open world hard mode/extreme mode primal difficulty attached to it.
The little depth added would encourage hunters to go after 1/51 mobs,figuring out which carcass they want to spawn which mob, in a way it would be an additional 51 mobs added to the roster, each with a unique drop to be obtained them them and it would definitely add more flavor then what's seen now. Granted I guess thinking more into it this would be a 2.4 release idea to hunting to flesh it out more lol.
