with the introduction of the Syrcus Tower stuff, I was just curious if some of the Syrcus Tower gear might be better than some other gear. But perhaps I was wrong in that assumption. I just know that for Scholar for example the Syrcus Tower gloves offer the best Crit Chance of any gear in that slot.

ST gear will not be better than a mix of High Allagan/upgraded Evenstar.with the introduction of the Syrcus Tower stuff, I was just curious if some of the Syrcus Tower gear might be better than some other gear. No, but it takes a lot of a secondary stat to have the same effect your primary stat would. And when you're talking about the difference of 10 item levels between gear, the lower item level gear will pretty much not come out ahead.

I'm willing to believe the calculations from this site are correct, and in no instance is a i100 piece better than an i110.

I wouldn't know, which is why I am waiting to hear from people who have actually done testing with various types of gear to determine what is best in slot at the current time. No, but it takes a lot of a secondary stat to have the same effect your primary stat would. All I know is that on Scholar the Scylla's Gloves of Healing (item level 100) is actually loads better than either the High Allagan Gloves of Healing, or the Daystar Gloves (both item level 110) simply because neither of the latter two have points in Critical Hit Rate but instead in Spell Speed and either Determination or Piety. Meanwhile Scylla's Gloves of Healing has 23 points of Crit which is way, way better for a Scholar than either Determination, Spell Speed, or Piety.
All I am wondering is if this kind of situation might have occurred for the Black Mage class the way it occurred for the Scholar.

I disagree - depending on the stats you can have an item that is 10 ilvls lower but is better.
Here's an example:
Cashmere Breeches (melded for accuracy/speed I90)
29 Int, 33 Acc, 24 Det, 33 Spellspeed, 29 Vit
vs
Weathered Evenstar Tights (I100)
34 Int, 26 Accuracy, 27 Det, 35 Vit
You would gain 7 Accuracy & 33 speed in exchange for 5 Int and 3 Det
33 Spellspeed is worth more than 5 Int - even at a horrendous ratio of say something like 4 Speed = 1 Int you'd get a theoretical Int value of 8.25 Int for 33 speed. The real speed values are better and speed points increase in value the more you have.
The amount and types of secondary stat can make a difference. Just waiting on Puro's updated stat weights and then we can figure out some of the new gear.
I think a fully dps melded crafted diamond ring (I90) can even surpass one of the I110 rings.
